The unanswerable question has been answered. 'What came first, Warlocks or Witches?'
Witches are in fact Warlocks. Of all the varied terms out there for magic practitioners, ONLY THIS ONE IS MALE SPECIFIC. WTF WotC.

I'm so confused. Most typed Witches became Wizards with Masters Edition update. OK, sure, we can condense the magic users under one label.
I mean, Sorcerers became Wizards as well just a few sets before so that makes sense.
But then some Witches became Spellshapers(???), and some Shamans, and some Clerics, and... one a Scarecrow.
WARLOCKS? Eldraine introduced WARLOCKS????? And from a brief Scryfall search OVER HALF of the typed creatures feature WOMEN! JUST BRING BACK 'WITCH'!

NOBODY NEEDED WARLOCKS. There were cards with Witch in the name featuring Males so CLEARLY THAT IS ALREADY FINE. 'Witch' is a perfect catch-all!
IN FACT, THERE IS ONLY ONE 'WARLOCK' WITH 'WARLOCK' IN IT'S NAME AND IT'S NOT EVEN FROM POST 'WARLOCK' TYPE ADDITION!
Dread Warlock was perfectly fine being a Human Wizard back in 2010. NOW ITS A HUMAN WIZARD WARLOCK????
