DECK SUMMARY

This Tam, Observant Sequencer deck is a control build around an ETB bounce engine that generates overwhelming card advantage while shutting everything down late game. The budget is ~$40, but there's a ton of synergy here. It's unfortunate Deep Sight isn't instant speed, so in reality Tam doesn't come online till late game. I think it's best to only use it to fix your draws if needed early on, because we need our mana till it's setup. Though if we get Teferi's Ageless Insight early, Tam transforms into a monster.

The engine runs on two parallel tracks: a Draw Engine that stacks card advantage, and a Bounce Engine that keeps recycling those creatures with ETB back into your hand to replay them. Teferi's Ageless Insight and Vnwxt, Verbose Host are the multipliers - both replace every draw with two draws, turning Tam's guaranteed trigger into a card advantage engine that gets out of hand quickly.

Roaring Primadox/Mistbreath Elder/Trusted Advisor are quietly some of the most important pieces. The mandatory upkeep bounce looks like a downside until you realize this deck wants to return creatures to hand. Looping back Ultimecia, Temporal Threat or Cyclone Summoner to Tap/Bounce all opposing creatures again is what we want to be doing. We have 16 Wizards so Summoner's Board Wipe will keep our board mostly intact, and our non-Wizards are ETB. Primadox/Elder/Advisor/Portal of Sanctuary keeps the machine running.

Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir gives the rest of our creatures Flash so we can have ideal plays to either Bounce our pieces or the opponents. The interaction suite is deep enough that you can answer most threats, and we can use a recurring Frilled Mystic or Venser, Shaper Savant. Voidmage Husher is low-key great here, as she can trigger Barrin, Tolarian Archmage on exit, while keeping any annoying abilities locked down.

Win conditions are layered. Triskaidekaphile is the definitive "I win" button. Teferi's Ageless Insight or Vnwxt, Verbose Host at Max Speed alongside a few Tam triggers gets you to 13 cards quickly. Vnwxt, Verbose Host, Graceful Adept, Trusted Advisor, or Trisk itself will keep your hand size uncapped. Loamcrafter Faun is an easy way to sculpt your hand down if you have Trisk out, and a great recursion piece for us too. The path to Trisk is a natural extension of what the deck is already doing, not a separate gameplan.

The slower win conditions are just as real. Tapping out for a huge Hydroid Krasis at an endstep can knock somebody out. Ultimecia, Temporal Threatwith Flash taps all opposing creatures, swing in - bounce her, replay her, do it again. Jill, Shiva's Dominant can make sure nobody can stop our bigger plays, and make things unblockable. If you can get a looping Cyclone Summoner, it allows our other threats to get in while answering anything that's replayed. Encouraging Aviator is nice consistent evasion for anything.

Harmonized Trio and Sage of Epityr work with Evolving Wilds as the budget fetch/shuffle synergy. Specifically, Sage who has great synergy with Tam allowing you to Draw on the reorder. Obviously, we can Bounce Sage to keep this interaction going.

STRATEGY

EARLY GAME:
Mulligan for a Ramp piece for turn 3 Tam. Ramp is all 2 CMC or less for this reason - the entire package is built around this. Some hands are ok without Ramp like having Vnwxt or Dour Port Mage with a turn 3 curve out - because we can function without an early Tam. Explore/Growth Spiral are great cantrips later on with Ageless Insight out. If you have a Ramp piece and 2 lands, that's a keep - the deck doesn't need much to start running. Use early interaction to protect your Bounce Engine pieces, Tam isn't that vital to us early.

MID GAME:
This is where the engine comes online and the deck starts pulling away. Prioritize getting a "No Hand Size" piece into play early in this phase because we'll start accumulating more cards. Being able to play the first 3 chapters of Summon: Valefor, then Bounce it back to hand is fun synergy. Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir flipping the deck to Flash is a massive tempo swing. Use our Bounce pieces first as removal (Harbinger of the Tides, Aether Channeler, Jill, Shiva's Dominant, Venser, Shaper Savant) and save our true interaction for key moments. Bane of Progress will eat our Mana Rocks, so be careful with that. Treat Tam's Deep Sight as support, rather than something you have to do each turn.

LATE GAME:
We're looking for a definitive close, and we have several. If Triskaidekaphile is in hand - start counting cards. With enough cards in hand, Loamcrafter Faun is your precision tool to lower back down to 13. If Trisk isn't the line, Cyclone Summoner resets the board while your Wizards survive, leaving you with a 7/7 and a full engine. Hydroid Krasis can help us get big damage through. Ultimecia, Temporal Threat keeps the pressure on, Drawing off combat damage in a clear board state. The Bounce Engine can repeat any of these making everyone run out of gas before we do. Encouraging Aviator is nice cheap budget evasion for Cyclone Summoner or Tishana, Voice of Thunder

UPGRADE PATH

This ~$40 list is built for high performance on a strict budget. If you want to take the deck to the next level, these are the swaps which are pure upgrades while keeping the overlap and engine intact. Focus on the Mana Base first - swapping out the tap lands make the deck significantly more responsive.

STRATEGY SHIFT:

Swapping to Hullbreaker Horror and Flood of Tears transforms the deck from a tempo-based bounce build into a hard-lock control machine. Once the mana base is smoothed out, you'll be able to reliably hold up interaction every turn, making it nearly impossible for opponents to resolve key threats while you recycle your ETB value.
