The desert deck, dry, full of plants, and lands in the yard.

Edge of Eternities has brought us a new land sacrifice precon, and so many goodies in the main set. The biggest change is Conduit of Worlds is out, and Icetill Explorer is in. It does everything the deck wants, self-mill, recursion, extra lands... this card is bonkers. So out goes the worst crucible to slot in the bug.

One more swap made was Nature's Rhythm is in instead of Finale of Devastation. It accomplishes my personal goal of using less generically powerful cards, and it also can be cast from the yard, at the cost of not looking at through the yard. Even is this is a bad swap, since it fuels my personal deck-building goal and has recursive abilities, it will stay regardless.

The swapping of Azusa, Lost but Seeking for Loot, Exuberant Explorer has not been crazy impactful. Loot's extra ability is almost negligible, but I also have only had a single game where I missed the second extra land Azusa would grant me. So for now, the change will stick. Swapping in Tectonic Reformation however has been moot. I have not seen it perform a single time, and I never draw it when it is useful. So I am back to the drawing board for a draw piece in that 1-2 mana slot.

Speaking of card advantage, Brass's Tunnel-Grinder  Flip has been seeming incredibly mediocre recently. It never flips since it draws hate, and I don't often seem to want to cast it. So a I'm looking new 3 mana draw piece. I am also testing Will of the Jeskai instead of Imposing Grandeur. I love saying, I pay 5 to draw 8, but having a mass flashback on top of a 5 card reload for 1 mana less seems great. Testing will bear out if this card is a good fit.

The following cards are currently up for testing if I can find slots:

  • Evendo Brushrazer - An on theme draw piece, unsure if this is good though

  • Exploration Broodship - A slower exploration, but with an extremely strong recursion piece

  • Famished Worldsire - An all in one card, seems too good to be true

  • Planetary Annihilation - Seems like a perfectly on theme boardwipe

  • Nibelheim Aflame - This is another great boardwipe, with the added benefit of casting from the yard. But, it is UB, and I hate UB. Not sure if this card is actually good.

Lastly the planets, all of these are are cool, but they may not help in a meaningful way.

Adagia, Windswept Bastion does not truly advance the gameplan here, so likely will not make the cut.

Evendo, Waking Haven seems crazy good, but I'm not convinced the deck needs this, a higher land quantity is typically better, and slots are tight.

Kavaron, Memorial World is potentially the exact card the deck wants. Many games are in a position where I made a board of Cacti, but they can't attack. Mass haste is potentially game winning, so I will try to find room for this card for sure. Not sure if this is better than Arena of Glory, but 2 haste effects are better than 1, so playing both is ideal.
