As you can probably tell by reading Zirilan, the point is to cheat out large dragons, and attack with them. However, we don't just want them to go to exile after they've done their job right? That's just a waste of value. We want to save them from extinction, and send them back to our hand, or our library to be searched for again, or even to the graveyard to be resurrected once more.
- Saving our dragons is not an easy task. We need cards that have cheap or no mana cost to activate and save our dragons. The most prevalent artifact that will help us is Tel-Jilad Stylus . This card is becoming more and more popular in commander, but here it will send our dragons to the bottom of our library after the Attack step, before Zirilan's affect resolves at the beginning of the end step, saving our dragons from death, and putting them in a place where Zirilan can search for them again. - Another noteworthy artifact that will send the dragons back to our hand is Sundial of the Infinite . This is awesome, because this doesn't send our dragons anywhere. This card just ENDS THE TURN, right on the phase you are currently on at instant speed, thereby effectively bypassing the end step, therefore making the effect that Zirilan creates NULL. Your dragon stays on the battlefield as a huge threat. The card we want to go get when this is on the battlefield is Utvara Hellkite . Utvara and Zirilan get out of hand quickly... - Other artifacts that will help us save our dragons are: - Cold Storage - Ashnod's Altar and Elixir of Immortality together - Rishadan Pawnshop will also send dragons back to be used again - Erratic Portal - There are also other cards that save our dragons like Barbarian Guides , Archwing Dragon saves itself, Dragon Mask , Oni of Wild Places and Conjurer's Closet .
- We have some dragons that can be used for utility and here they are: - Hellkite Tyrant is good artifact removal.. kind of. You gain control of all artifacts so if any of them are threatening to you, now you don't have to worry about them. - Flameblast Dragon , Crimson Hellkite , Bogardan Hellkite and more are all dragons that deal damage to remove threats. - Thundermaw Hellkite also deals damage, but it's not for removal. It's to tap all of the pesky flying creatures that will get in the way of our dragons. - Dragon Mage , helps get rid of a crappy hand, or could be considered card draw if you're down to one card in your hand. Also helps get rid of cards your opponents are excited about when they draw.
- Well, the Goblins are helping us balance out our mana curve so it's not high and so we actually have something to do on the first few turns. - Dragonlord's Servant is obviously trying to help us get out our commander earlier, - Bloodmark Mentor gives our dragons First Strike, - Grenzo's Cutthroat helps us keep the crown in case it's stolen from us for the purposes of keeping Skyline Despot online. - And Mogg Sentry is just a dumb turn one play that should keep your Life safe for the first couple of turns till you get going.

Suggestions

Updates Add

  • Definitely going to add Lathliss, Dragon Queen because she's perfect for this deck.
  • Sarkhan, Fireblood is a no-brainer add for this deck.
  • Demanding Dragon and Dragon's Hoard are also being added
  • Also adding Sunbird's Invocation and Crucible of Fire later when I make the other changes. For now, I'm rollin with what I got
  • Will post another update when M19 releases, and what cards I'm adding and removing.
  • There seems to be a lot of good Dragon synergies in M19 so there will definitely be more than just Lathliss joining the team!
