Once Xantcha, Sleeper Agent was spoiled, I knew I was going to build her. Although I was super excited for her, I was uncertain how to about build it. That was until I hit my light bulb moment and thought try my hand at Rakdos politics. The deck breaks down into a few primary objectives: gain favor from my opponents by offering them creatures or resources, discourage my opponents from attacking me, and forcing everyone to fight.

Tainted Gifts

Even though Rakdos is considered the most selfish of color pairings, the combination still has things to offer my opponents to gain favor. Old group hug standbys such as Hunted Dragon and Hunted Horror quickly came to mind. The newly spoiled card:Varchild, Bretrayer of Kjeld cast a spotlight on her lackeys, Varchild's War-Riders . Giving my opponents some creatures can win me some favors. Cards like Humble Defector can card draws for favors. Even my removal can be traded with Diaochan, Artful Beauty and Deadly Designs . All of these gifts come with some strings attached of course, and if I am not careful, could easily be used against me.

Discouraging My Opponents

Since I am giving my opponents some fuel, it is important that I keep them off my back long enough to put my dastardly plans into motion. Farsight Mask turns damage I take into cards, while Dread and No Mercy kill creatures that hit me. Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs , Slumbering Dragon and Vengeful Pharaoh could easily give my opponents just cause to point targets elsewhere. Curse of Opulence and Curse of Disturbance actively reward my enemies to fight another (perhaps a player who has slighted me). Getting these incentives in place is most important, since the next phase will set up my end game.

Force Fighting Among the Others

Once I have my defenses in place, it will be time to force as much combat as possible. Disrupt Decorum goads all my opponents into fighting each other. Warmonger Hellkite and Avatar of Slaughter force creatures to fight and can add on the damage. With all the encouragement, my hopes is my enemies will deal weaken themselves in order for me to step in and finish them off.
