Sideboard

Big-Boy beater commander amplified with Enchantron and fueled by aggressive Land ramping. Lamping.

Upon entry, Yargle and Multani - YaM for short - sits comfortably at 18/6 and that's a 3-point gap to one-shot your opponent. So we are going to get them just a bit angrier after they arrive. One problem: YaM has a heavy cost and we need go get that mana asap. Lands are a crucial part of the deck in terms of power and access for YaM. So long as you are playing your hand (Land, Tron, Enchant) it all adds up in the end with thinning the deck and finding a combo for a one-shot.

Enchant

Enchantments will both enhance YaM and give draw you card triggers under the appropriate circumstances. Enhancements will provide either a power boost or access to damaging your opponent. Power sources include Gaea's Anthem/Sylvan Anthem, Endless Scream and Unspeakable Symbol.

Opponent access relies on Trample using Nylea, God of the Hunt, Primal Rage and Rancor or through Landwalking ability with Dryad's Favor and Leshrac's Rite.

Card draw relies on Enchantment-specific ETB or casting triggers with the help of Argothian Enchantress, Enchantress's Presence and Eidolon of Blossoms. Grisly Transformation and Scourgemark also offer some enhancement and a draw-card ETB trigger. To ensure practicallity of these events, the deck consists mostly of enchantments including Enchantment Creatures that can also take advantage of the triggers like Doomwake Giant.

Tron

Our equipment is based around two primary factors: Avoidance and Power.

Avoidance

To get through our opponents defenses Trailblazer's Boots and Fleetfeather Sandals gives our a slippery skin. While these options are quite limited, their secondary purpose is to grant YaM haste in addition to their primary purpose. Likewise, we have Swiftfoot Boots to provide Haste and Hexproof but not Lightning Greeves because we want to be able to target our commander.

Power

Determined more so on permanent-count rather than hard-set +/+ numeric stats, we make heavy work of the enchantments, lands and also artifacts we have in play.

Lands: Staff of Titania and Nightmare Lash take advantage to our borderline excessive land plays and also utilize the benefits we get from our Magical Dryad, Urborg and Yavimaya when counting Forests and Swamps we control.

Other: Power enhancement by other permanents rely on either artifact and/or enchantment count using Nettlecyst and Helm of the Gods. Since the deck heavily revolves around enchantments, Helm can kick off quick and Nettle comes with an added bonus.

Note: You may be asking yourself "Why don't you use Fireshrieker, you ding-dong!?". Well, I like to try be efficient with my stat and card distribution and having our commander deal double the damage feels excessive when it takes so little to reach the 21+ damage threshold. Instead of going for the overkill, I decided to pursue additional avenues of access and enhancement while still keeping Fireshrieker in the sideboard.

Land

"Landfall without the Landfall"
This means that there is heavy land lays but we do not necessarily rely on the ETB trigger of a land, rather the access and power boost it can give our commander(s). Lots of land tutor Sorcery and Instant spells as well as land-drop increasing permanents give us the ramp we need to bring out YaM as quickly as possible.

Since we have a lot of equipment and enchantments that rely on land count and land type, we want to focus on getting Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth out quickly too. Sylvan Scrying, Crop Rotation and Expedition Map offer "unconditional" land tutoring that isn't based on Basic, Forest or Swamp subtypes. Urborg and Yavimaya also play a critical role in the deck as they make all lands a Forest or Swamp in addition to their other types: this is our Forestwalk and Swampwalk ticket for unblockable access to our opponents.

Crunchy Combos

  • Defense of the Heart into Sanctum Weaver + Nyxbloom Anctient for 3x Mana.
If you had 4 mana to cast Defense, you start your next turn with at least 12 mana. Good stuff!
  • Dryad of the Ilysian Grove with Nightmare Lash or Staff of Titania
  • Leshrac's Rite + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth for Swampwalk
  • Dryad's Favor + Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth for Forestwalk
  • Buried Alive targeting Brawn and Filth for Landwalk
