Turtles can put up a pretty scary threat when you run Twisted Image / Inside Out / Invert / Invent as a beatdown shell. Ramp into big turtles works - Thunderous Snapper does offer a payoff for it.

(saw your post on tumblr and had to come and suggest stuff, but feel free to ignore, I'm just trying to throw some ideas out to help out!)

I think counterspells aren't very good as signature spells (but I don't have much experience with Oathbreaker). If you're going for flavor I think Expansion / Explosion , Izzet Charm or Turn//Burn could work. (It could also be fun to build a Harnessed Lightning energy-themed deck for Ral, Storm Conduit :x)

I think that instead of running a lot of creatures with tap (or untap) abilities it would be easier to focus on artifacts for the ramp/card draw/etc with cards like Clock of Omens , Key to the City , Staff of Nin (), Unwinding Clock , Chaos Wand , Oracle's Vault () and a bunch of mana rocks ( Mind Stone , Pyramid of the Pantheon (), Coalition Relic (), Talisman of Creativity , Star Compass , Hedron Archive , Basalt Monolith and Khalni Gem ). Animation Module can add counters to planeswalkers, so that could be fun too.

Invert / Invent and Firemind's Foresight are pretty good budget tutors. Fabricate and the Trophy Mage / Tribute Mage s could be good too.

Ensnare can be a lifesaver in certain situations. Blustersquall is something I thought I would already see in your list.

Temporal Distortion makes things take 1 extra turn to untap. Frozen AEther , Winter Orb and Mist of Stagnation are other relevant Stax pieces if you want to go that way.

Reality Shift is probably the best creature single target removal in blue.

I'd cut down on the number of X damage spells you're running and rely more on having some graveyard recursion/tutoring to make it more consistent. Mystic Retrieval would be my choice to run along with Archeomancer. Mizzix's Mastery is also pretty good, but probably better if you're focusing on spellslinging.

Vandalblast and Shenanigans (or maybe Release the Gremlins for the cuteness) are good artifact removal. Geistblast is a interesting Flashback spell that actually should be like Amonkhet's Aftermath. Insidious Will 's versatility shouldn't be underestimated.

(aaand I already suggested too much. Like I said, feel free to ignore. Can't wait to see the finished deck. I hope something from this mess helps!)

Oh my I have been waiting to see Invert / Invent in EDH. I believe this is the place for Erratic Cyclops to combo off that. After Invert it becomes a 8/1 Beast with trample and giving it toughness will pump its power!

This kind of deck is not in my wheel house, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt. Perhaps you could switch out Invert / Invent for Muddle the Mixture ? I know in a Mizzix deck every spell is painstakingly chosen, so forgive me if I'm barking up the wrong tree here. Perhaps someday someone can take the time to help me figure out the intricacies of a decent Mizzix deck? Anywho, if you can't make that switch, please tell me why, so I can be of more help in the future.

This is a Mizzix deck. Its main win-con is Reality Spasm + Reiterate to get infinite mana with and then cast Fall of the Titans many times. It also wins by storming off. I also have High Tide to help my combo go off or help with storm. I use Firemind's Foresight , Merchant Scroll , Mystical Tutor , and Invert / Invent to tutor for the combo. I also have some storm cards.

I just saw Muddle the Mixture and it looked like it would be good in my deck, but the only thing I could see that I could potentially cut is Spell Burst . So, what do you guys think Spell Burst or Muddle the Mixture ? Or should I cut something else for Muddle the Mixture

I also just cut Thought Vessel for Helm of Awakening , what do you guys think of this cut?

As a fellow Mizzix player I can give you some insight based on my experience. Based on your build I would take out Mizzix's Mastery . I know, it is a fantastic card but since you are playing so many X costed spells you can't really take advantage of it since it forces you to play them without paying their manacost which means that X is equal to 0.

Here is a list of cards I have in my deck which work pretty well (in no particular order): - Blue Sun's Zenith this card can be crazy with enough counters. I even managed to kill a player by making him draw 80 cards with it. - The Mirari Conjecture get back your precious spells and unleash hell. - Invert / Invent basically playing it for Invent. - Apex of Power with enough experience counters this just wins the game. - Karn's Temporal Sundering This can honestly be any extra turn spell but this has the bonus of bouncing an annoying permanent. I had one lying around and I put it in. - Jaya's Immolating Inferno This one is really really good.

I'm in the process of retooling my own. I thought I would share things I found. Sorry if i'm spamming ideas at you. That said, I can't believe I never noticed Invert / Invent . It's perfect for Will. Pre-emblem it turns his +2 into removal. Post emblem it lets you tutor up 4 cards! I prefer Murmuring Mystic over Talrand, Sky Summoner . Mystic has a solid 5 toughness allowing it to be an effective wall(survives anger of the gods as well). That alone can allow you to drop Will safely a bit earlier. The fact it only has one blue in its cost also helps keep double blue countermagic up. Unless you really value the 2/2 drakes over 1/1 birds, I would make the swap(or include both). I'm toying with the idea of running Radiate There is a lot of single target removal in my meta. Using an opponents spell to clear the field for you is a very satisfying feeling. Impulse is better than Peer Through Depths In my opinon. Goes 4 deep instead of 5, but there is no chance to whiff and get nothing. Also, you don't have to reveal the card you get! Blasphemous Act and/or Evacuation are great ways to clear a board for one of the twins to come down. Evacuation can be cast at the end of the turn before you untap. With enough creatures on the field, Blasphemous Act can easily be cast the same turn your as your commander. You can even +2 Will to kill things that would normally survive it(assuming its not buffed through auras or +1 counters).

Invert / Invent isn't legal in this deck because Krenko doesn't have blue in his color identity. It would be nice though!
