Maybeboard

I built this before a certain EDH night just in case there weren't enough decks but it has since become a pet project.

Description

This is a control deck, plain and simple. Your opponents play threats and you have all the answers. This list leans heavily towards blue for raw draw power and backs it up with white sweepers.

Right now (Feb 1, 2018) there are no tutors in this deck. Synergies must be assembled through draw.

The deck wants to start by drawing lots of cards, wiping the board, then dropping a big threat in typical control style.

Opening hand

The ideal opening hand has a sweeper such as Planar Outburst or Planar Cleansing and a way to draw or filter multiple cards such as Impulse or Rhystic Study .

Beginning the Game

Ideally you begin advancing your plan with one of the sweepers.

Don't fear the Reaper

Initially this deck fell behind late game because it didn't have high enough density of cheap spells or recursion. That has since been fixed by swapping in cheap and/or repeatable spells such as View from Above and Fact or Fiction .

Instants/sorceries can be recurred by Archaeomancer , Mnemonic Wall , or Salvager of Secrets . The best candidate is Ghostly Flicker . Having two of those creatures and that instant lets you pay 2U to let you reuse an instant or sorcery.

Planar Birth is a payoff for looting or otherwise putting basic lands in your graveyard via Fact or Fiction . At the moment the weakness of this is that non basic lands are best played early game and discarded in the late game while basics go the other way. Still, it's super fun if you're comfortable being 1 mana behind.
