In a city populated by Humans, the fear of what moves in the night is only a portion. Zombies, Werewolves, Vampires and Ghouls roam the wastelands, illuminated by the moonlight. Howls can be heard in the distance, looming and commanding. A huddled society of zealots devoted to the Church of Avacyn promise protection from the evils that lurk in the night.

Strange disappearances have shaken the religion to its core, threatening the very foundation it was built on. A brave, well-known detective, Eloise has been placed on the mission of investigating these abductions. Hired by Lord Nellick to get to the bottom of a roving geist attacking people in a local township have proven to be problematic on its own, and she knows she'll need to employ the assistance of a no-so-friendly Jacob Hauken to delve further in the rabbit hole.

The discovery the ill-forged pair made was the necro-alchemist Cyril Rav, who a few months prior had misfired a geistbomb - an explosive device fueled with dead souls - that killed many people, including himself. Due to the powers of a necromancer, Rav was able to possess a living body without permission, gathering power and influence by possessing those with power. The ghosts misused in the geistbomb however were bent on revenge and began their haunt.

Through the guise of Lord Nellick, Rav was able to offer an unusual partnership with Jacob, who was discovered to possess the special powers of Vizag Atum. Hauken accepted the offer, and the pair disappeared, leaving a trail of bodies behind.

Annoyed by the betrayal of Hauken, Eloise offered her services to Millicent, a spirit with a vengeance shared by many spirits left in the wake of The Travails, to track the fugitives.

This is the tale of Eloise Wicker.

Suggestions

Updates Add

  1. Removed Shimmer Dragon as it didn't sit on theme, as well as being usually a fast target to remove once it's hexproof fell off.
  2. Removed Confirm Suspicions despite being on flavour, it's very expensive for a counterspell. I found myself with it in hand and uncastable more often than not.
  3. Added an extra Island for more consistent land drops, I found myself frequently missing either my T4 or my T5 drop, as well as being usually behind on a lot of my UU pips when I really needed them.
  4. Added Grim Haruspex per suggestion, after some playtesting it seemed to really shine through with all the different ways my creatures can die on board.
