Modifications

yuwi, 11 years ago

Rakdos Ringleader did not really prove to be that useful. I am still waiting for Colossal Whale to show some tricks. I replaced Rakdos Ringleader with Nightveil Specter, and Lightning Strike with Magma Jet for the scry.

I also corrected the land count.

Sideboard Revision

raithe000, 11 years ago

Major sideboard revision. Gift of Immortality is out for not preserving auras, Rootborn Defenses just costs too much, and I never wanted to use Battlewise Hoplite and people don't seem to sideboard out all the removal, so out.

Put in some Loxodon Smiters for power against control and midrange, Negate to deal with edicts, and Selesnya Charm to deal with monstrous Polis Crusher, although that may change if I don't see any copies of it. Also switched out a Naturalize for a Mending Touch, as I have seen Supreme Verdict, but not Glaring Spotlight

Got the cards

Artemis_Swift, 11 years ago

Finally got all of the cards for this deck. I switched out Relentless Assault for Seize the Day though for it's flashback ability.

Game 3: Turn 5, attacking with Blightsteel Colossus. No blockers. Win!

Game 4: Turn 6, attacking with both Withengar Unbound  Flip and Worldspine Wurm. Win!

Game 5: Turn 6, second attack with a Worldspine Wurm. The game ends with six 5/5 wurms on my side of the battlefield. Win!

Game 6: Turn 6, attack with Withengar Unbound  Flip. Win.

Oct 30, 2013 magic pub night

Natachi, 11 years ago

Went to a magic 'pub night' in town and made a few changes to this deck.

Removed: 2x Manaweft Sliver, 4x Elvish Mystic Added: 3x Soldier of the Pantheon, 3x Wasteland Viper

First matchup was against a red/white deck that took 15th at last week's PTQ, and I pulled a 2-1 victory. (Round 1) Opening hand contained a shiney new Wasteland Viper, so I shocked myself and played it on T1. Well, it was immediately annihilated on the field with a shock. Lesson: Perhaps more effective as a bloodrush.. (Round 2) My opponent was able to pull off a monstrous Stormbreath Dragon to take me out. (Round 3) I was able to lay out my "infinite" combo, sweet!

Second Matchup was against a Selesnya heroic deck.with Fabled Hero + Enchantments, including Alpha Authority and Unflinching Couragefoil, and then a bunch of instants like Gods Willing and Dauntless Onslaught. I lost this match 1-2. (Round 1) Opponent got out a Fabled Hero with Alpha Authority.and proceeded to lay 3 instant spells on him. I did not pull any decent response, and Detention Sphere was useless in my hand. (Round 2) I sideboarded Supreme Verdict and Rootborn Defenses. He flashed out a Boon Satyr and gave him Unflinching Couragefoil. I used 2 Fog and took a 6hit before dropping the [Supreme Verdict, all in an attempt to bait him into laying down more dudes. I ended up drawing well, playing a Primeval Bounty, a couple creatures, and Elspeth, Sun's Champion. I was able to swing for 27 damage with her tokens alone after ult'ing her. (Round 3) was looking amazing on my end. I had 6 land out, had a scry, saw a white mana, and put it on the bottom of my library, thinking I was sitting pretty. Then I realized I only had one white mana on the table, and my next draws were Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Archangel of Thune, Archangel of Thune. Shufflewut? Newb mistake, and it definitely cost me the game. A humbling lesson to learn.

Third Matchup was against an Azorius humans deck. Straight aggro with our little friendly helper Cavalry Pegasus. (Round 1) I outlasted the initial onslaught due to a lot of counterspells in my hand, which gave me enough time to develop and execute the deck nicely. (Round 2) Did not sideboard Supreme Verdict when I should have. Played an iffy opening hand that had, no counterspells, and I wasn't drawing any more land. Daxos of Meletis, Fabled Hero, Cavalry Pegasus and Spear of Heliod made quick work of my 20 hp. (Round 3) Sideboard in SV, but more or less a repeat of Round 2. Snap.

Jerada, 11 years ago

Heres the big one, I am -3 Alpha Authority for 3x Boros Reckoner I've been low balling on the creatures so this should help with that and he is a perfect fit in here for aggro naya.

Jerada, 11 years ago

Put back in 3x Chained to the Rocks and side boarded Selesnya Charm for less constrained removal with a bit of a boost. Thinking of taking out the Alpha Authority in favor of Witchstalker because it really didn't have too big of an effect on gameplay, will have to test that out on friday though.

oh and -1 Forest +1 Gods Willing

Quick fix

unmistakable, 11 years ago

-2 Fanatic of Mogis, +2 Ordeal of Purphoros Quick change as red, particularly permanents with red in them, were a lot more prominent in the initall draft of this deck.I took them out in favour of more heroic triggers and overall speed.

Ideal play

kwinten, 11 years ago

First move: Elvish Mystic / Thoughtseize

Second move: Sylvan Caryatid / Doom Blade / Ultimate Price to get rid creatures in aggro decks

Third move: Desecration Demon / Lifebane Zombie / Polukranos, World Eater // Reaper of the Wilds or Read the Bones if you do not have ideal cards in your hands

Fourth move: if no Elvish Mystic or Sylvan Caryatid in play, one of the creatures of above, a planeswalker (if in hand) or some destroy effect's if necessary.

Fifth Move: Keep high presure with your creatures and destroy's.

Yesterday i played against 2 friends with there best FNM deck.

Once mono white devotion aggro deck: having a hard time to survive the first rounds, but once i get the upperhand in move 4, things get easier and your pressure is building. Eventuely lost the first 2 rounds (2-0) managed to win the next 2 (2-2). And lost the last game becouse he had to many creatures able to sacrifice for my Desecration Demon

Next friends:

Gruul semi agro-deck: Again first 2 games lost couse of his massive Kalonian Hydra 's (he had 3) and wasn't able to destroy them all 3, even tho i managed to kill 2 of his planewalkers on his turn. Next three games where a killing spree for me, completely destroying everything in my path. Desecration Demon made him sacrifice all of his first creatures in order to stay alive, once he played the big cards (xena/domni) i raped those with Hero's Downfall. First 2 games Vraska the Unseen made him suffer big creature loss and the last game had a Garruk, Caller of Beasts in turn 4 with complete bord full of creatures.

After that we played some multiplayer and played against there other , bit easier decks and won all of the games.

At the moment i am thinking about adding some more Vraska the Unseen since this beauty have won me the game 3 times. Tomorow i will play the FNM and hopefully i will play some good games.

Pre-2/2

KrazyCaley, 11 years ago

1 - Wodar

Reaper of the Wilds - Pick 1 by Wodar

Artisan's Sorrow

Destructive Revelry

Flamespeaker Adept

Asphodel Wanderer

Breaching Hippocamp

Gods Willing

Leafcrown Dryad

Nessian Courser

Ray of Dissolution

Silent Artisan

Time to Feed

Titan's Strength

Vaporkin

Plains

Obviously the best pick. Fearsome bomb; exactly what they needed.

Now held by: Deco_y - Gods Willing goes with Agent of Fates. Other than that, there are a number of very good green cards to choose from.

2 - DB345

Bow of Nylea

Artisan's Sorrow

Fanatic of Mogis - Pick 1 by Deckbuilder345

Karametra Acolyte

Vanquish the Foul

Agent of Horizons

Battlewise Valor

Defend the Hearth

Fleetfeather Sandals

Guardians of Meletis

Ill-Tempered Cyclops

Prescient Chimera

Ray of Dissolution

Vaporkin

Mountain

Forcing red very severely. At least they're sticking to a plan now.

Now held by: Wodar - Bow of Nylea should almost never be picked second. Very nice break for the group.

3 - Gurei

Reaper of the Wilds - Pick 1 by GureiSeion

Battlewise Hoplite

Evangel of Heliod

Sealock Monster

Breaching Hippocamp

Fellhide Minotaur

Fleetfeather Sandals

Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Ill-Tempered Cyclops

Prescient Chimera

Scholar of Athreos

Silent Artisan

Titan's Strength

Traveling Philosopher

Swamp

Guess they're going to run that black now. Again, Reaper is a fiendish card in limited; one of the better bombs you can drop.

Now held by: Deckbuilder345 - I guess Ill-Tempered Cyclops if they stick to their Boros plan?

4 - Actiontech

Prognostic Sphinx - Pick 1 by Actiontech

Burnished Hart

Nemesis of Mortals

Sealock Monster

Demolish

Ephara's Warden

Fellhide Minotaur

Fleshmad Steed

Griptide

Last Breath

Satyr Hedonist

Scholar of Athreos

Scourgemark

Spark Jolt

Island

This pick was served up on a silver platter for them; great card in the dead center of what they want to run.

Now held by: GureiSeion - Nemesis of Mortals is powerful and in-color. They could also plausibly run Sealock Monster, but Nemesis is better AND is more on point with current colors.

5 - Goody

Master of Waves

Arena Athlete

Magma Jet - Pick 1 by Goody

Warriors' Lesson

Cavern Lampad

Defend the Hearth

Demolish

Divine Verdict

Guardians of Meletis

Leonin Snarecaster

Pharika's Cure

Prescient Chimera

Priest of Iroas

Sedge Scorpion

Plains

Shame to pass a Master of Waves like that, but that card's really not THAT good, and Magma Jet is always excellent. I support the pick. Divine Verdict would have been considered by me.

Now held by: Actiontech - You probably take the Master of Waves here, though other cards are somewhat tempting.

6 - Euphonatron

Abhorrent Overlord

Dissolve - Pick 1 by Euphonatron

Peak Eruption

Witches' Eye

Agent of Horizons

Akroan Crusader

Cavalry Pegasus

Crackling Triton

Defend the Hearth

Messenger's Speed

Mnemonic Wall

Observant Alseid

Portent of Betrayal

Traveler's Amulet

Forest

I still don't know what they're running, but sure, why not.

Now held by: Goody - I'd take Observant Alseid, though they might want a faster deck with Crusader or Pegasus.

7 - Absinthman

Hero's Downfall

Destructive Revelry

Destructive Revelry (foil)

Phalanx Leader - Pick 1 by Absinthman

Thassa's Emissary

Baleful Eidolon

Battlewise Valor

Benthic Giant

Boulderfall

Guardians of Meletis

Loathsome Catoblepas

March of the Returned

Omenspeaker

Savage Surge

Plains

Can be a very powerful card, to be sure. Still, I would have been tempted by the simple and effective Hero's Downfall.

Now held by: Euphonatron - They have GOT to start working on a color identity. Since that seems to (at least?) be blue, I'd consider Thassa's Emissary.

8 - Deco_y

Abhorrent Overlord - Pick 1 by Deco_y

Hunt the Hunter

Purphoros's Emissary

Satyr Piper

Agent of Horizons

Akroan Crusader

Crackling Triton

Defend the Hearth

Gods Willing

Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Last Breath

Messenger's Speed

Prescient Chimera (foil)

Spark Jolt

Mountain

They are focused enough to make that a good pick.

Now held by: Absinthman - Purphoros's Emissary seems clearly best.
