Complete revision

After playing a few hands of my old deck, I've rebuilt from the ground up basing on new techniques I've learned with some helpful folk at my local games shop, and an accidental combo I discovered soon after.
The idea here is to get out a Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca and Deeproot Waters early as possible. Everything you cast after then generates an additional token for chump blocking and population.
This is all about +1/+1 counters and making the creatures unshockable with Herald of Secret Streams. The Forerunner of the Heralds will allow to tutor HoSS from the library, of if not needed, something else equally as useful, like Silvergill Adept for card draw.
The more times you can tap 5 to put +1/+1 on everything with Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca the better, ultimate combo would be having 10+ merfolk, and Jace, Ingenious Mind-Mage on the board. tap out for +1/+1 counters, use Jace's second Loyalty ability to untap them all again, the cast Herald of Secret Streams, it will either land allowing for a devastating and unblock able attack, or save them for blocking if no HoSS is present.
Don't forget to abuse Kumena's ability on the opponents end step for some free +1/+1 counters or card draws before your turn starts.
Another win con in here is Hadana's Climb, making something so big it'll be hard to kill via combat and really do some damage.

So, after 3 FNM runs with it, the meta shifted and I discovered an unfortunate fact about Boros Angels.
Golgari absolutely trashes it.
Every card in their deck counters the whole strategy of this deck. It is rough. In maybe 40 games, I have only beat Golgari once. I mean 1 game, not even the whole match. Even against janky homebrew Golgari, they just always have answers for the big angels, and their big explorers are too big for the vampires to get through.
So I am changing the build!
-4 Adanto Vanguard, -3 Bishop's Soldier, -3 Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle, -4 Integrity / Intervention, -1 Response / Resurgence, -1 Shalai, Voice of Plenty
+4 Fountain of Renewal, +3 Dawn of Hope, +2 Settle the Wreckage, +4 Diamond Mare, +4 Ajani's Pridemate, +2Deafening Clarion
Also made numerous tweaks to the sideboard.
The idea is to build a lifegain combo shell with a lot more sweeper removal, then curve the top end out with Angel threats. This gives the deck way more gas when everything gets killed, and even the 2 drops can grow into game-ending threats.
Testing it this week at FNM. I'll let you know!

Replaced Impulse with Mystic confluence. Thinking about adding return to dust back in over disenchant. Potentially adding Torrential gearhulk as well.

Tried to create a duel EDH Yuriko deck. Need to cut out a card, but I'm not sure which one.

Found the perfect hand while playtesting. Can pop the door on turn 2. Island, opal x2, memnite/orni, drum, iso, dramatic reversal. Turn 2 draw artifact search. Infinite combo set at turn one then just use it to search for door, door untaps to dramatic reversal, infinite mana to pop it.

Out: Trade Routes
While play testing Trade Routes was not providing much of an advantage. Top has a lower cmc for more value while determining dredge triggers.

Increasing Card Draw
LordBlackblade, 6 years ago
Subbed in: Dawn of Hope, Deathgreeter, Night's Whisper, Sign in Blood, Soldier of the Pantheon, Leonin Elder, Well of Lost Dreams
Subbed out: Ajani Goldmane, Athreos, God of Passage, Kokusho, the Evening Star, Luminarch Ascension, Prison Term, Sorin, Grim Nemesis, and Sun Titan
Essentially I removed several expensive or niche cards and subbed in less-flashy, but powerful card draw cards as well as a couple low-cost life gain triggers.

Strictly Budget Changes
zelephent, 6 years ago
Find / Finality replaces Doom Whisperer. This is strictly for budget purposes; I don't want to spend $25 on a card that while very good in my deck, isn't absolutely essential. I also opened Find / Finality in a Guilds of Ravnica draft, so I want to try it out. However I will be on the lookout for Doom Whisperer, so maybe one day it shall be added.

Change is Good

I decide to take out of my deck Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive, Windreader Sphinx and tempest djin cause was always got killed and to insert more control cards. In a MTG Arena playtest I had 7 wins, and 2 mana screw loses. In a real game playtest I had several time lose the game in 2-1. I still need improvement. You'll mill the opponent but in the end you have many chances to lose.

Most of the changes to date have been very good. Alms Collector and Neheb, the Eternal have been powerful additions. Removed Phyrexian Processor because my meta is strong and risky cards like that are no good unless in a casual setting. Replaced for Austere Command.

Adding Mistveil Plains and Divine Visitation. Removing Gavony Township and Cathars' Crusade.
Added Silence
Apollo_Paladin, 6 years ago
Given that you can play Silence in response to the end of another players' phase (I prefer laying it on in response to my opponent ending their Beginning or Untap Phase) this spell essentially grants an extra turn for 1 mana. Compare that to the multitude of Blue-color spells with the actual "Extra Turn" text, and which are typically very heavy on casting cost. (5 is actually the minimum casting cost that I can think of for Blue at the moment that'll grant an Extra Turn.)
It's been working remarkably well in practice, especially when one can force an opponent to skip a crucial build-up turn (like turn 2 or 3). It really gives a nice edge to the deck. The fact that my opponent can still Untap and play lands really doesn't feel like it negates the "Extra Turn" effect by much.
I also added in Spirit Mantle because while it's not quite as all-encompassing as Spectra Ward, it still likewise pairs quite nicely with Pariah and plus it's literally less than half the mana cost to cast. It just won't save me from damage targeted at me directly...unless I get extremely lucky and can get both cast on Aegis of the Gods.
Let me know what you think of the other cards on the 'Maybeboard' - any I may have missed, or any suggestions on strategy/mana efficiency would be greatly appreciated!

Playtest 1
captainamerica, 6 years ago
I tested against an Izzet Young Pyromancer Deck. The results are that this deck can hold off it's realy game charge and grind it out. The only weakness I found in my deck was the lack of protection for Jace, delaying my casting of him. Anger of the Gods and Electrolyze really shine in that matchup. When Bedlam Reveler comes down, it should meet one of your copies of Flame Slash
