Mana Base Changes

Seventy7INa45, 6 years ago

Biggest change is I finally got a Gaea’s Cradle! I was able to sell some spare stuff I had and get enough store credit for a really nice NM copy. Super excited about it

I also changed the shock lands I was running to black filter lands. With multi-colored cards I currently have in the deck, or with any other option are double any other color. I'm going to try these out for a bit, seems if it makes the mana base quicker without sacrificing stability, and see how it goes.

I need to bleed my enemies faster ????

I have altered this deck 2-3 more times and tweaked it more times than I can count. Life gain seems to work well, I have lots of hate and I become the problem at the table fast, but I cannot do enough damage to my/multiple opponents fast enough.

Major Success + Changes

I have been playing a lot of games since the last change and the deck is performing extremely well. Toxic Deluge has added a lot of that win %, much better than expected.

Update 10/31/2018

IN: Camaraderie, Beast Whisperer, Staff of Domination

OUT: Sigarda, Host of Herons, Shamanic Revelation, Sword of the Paruns

Trying out some new cards. Happy to finally get my Staff of Domination - it seems like a pretty ridiculous upgrade over Sword of the Paruns - draws cards, gains life, taps down blockers, and goes infinite with any creature that makes 5+ mana.

Wednesday Night Modern

Can't remember my matchups nor my results other than getting at least one 0-2 and leaving the night with no wins at all. I did change my deck and sideboard to tailor it more to my local meta.

Ended up cutting out Spirit of the Labyrinth. Not sure if it was the right call, but it was convenient as I didn't have one on hand.

From a Casual Deck to a Competitive Deck

nuggnugg, 6 years ago

After playing Jhoira for the past few months, I realized that she is my favorite deck by far. The planning, the card draw, the risks. I love them. I then decided that it was time to upgrade the deck. Usually, I never get to this point. I usually make a bunch of decent decks and just keep playing new ones like that. So I figured that if there was ever a deck to upgrade finally, it was this one. So I added a few cards that buffed the deck to unbelievable amounts. The deck can win on turn 3 with the perfect hand. It can also be a deck where you just chill and draw cards until you decide to win.

Sideboard: Out: 1x Thoughtseize --> IN: 1x Engineered Explosives I really needed Engineered Explosives since it deals with so many fast decks like Bogles and Affinity. I am still considering cutting out the last thoughtseize for another Collective brutality since I really only need Thought seize vs control but Collective Brutality works against control and Burn. It is also another discard outlet. More testing is needed before I finalize my SB.

-Overwhelming Stampede +Garruk's Packleader I think I have enough finishers and ways to tutor for those finishers that I don't need Overwhelming Stampede. Stampede can't be Natural Ordered or Worldly Tutored for, and sometimes +5/+5 isn't enough to finish a game. Craterhoof does what Stampede does, but better and works with the mentioned tutors. Garruk's Packleader comes in to keep the curve the same and provide some additional card draw, which is really what this deck needs to power through its 42 land.
