It's time! I finally get to have a half decent spirit commander deck! Squeal. Ahem, excuse me, let's get back to focusing on the deck at hand.

This deck is obviously a 5 color spirit tribal deck with O-Kagachi at the helm. As far as 5 color commanders are concerned O-Kagachi has been a pleasant surprise. Upon initial spoilers, for our beloved Dragon Spirit, I was disappointed that such a powerful character got a rather lackluster card. But upon playtesting I have learned that O-Kagachi does exactly what this deck wants, and that is to prevent people from attacking us. Spirits, particularly in Kamigawa, are very expensive creatures with powerful effects. Normally by the time you are able to play your haymakers you are already dead. O-Kagichi is great for a deck like ours because it discourages attacking. With a 5 color mana base, it can be very easy to take upwards of 10 damage just over the course of the first few turns.

Keeping eyes turned on other players allows us to slowly build up a huge advantage that will then allow us to win through our raw power and value. In essence, we are playing a group hug deck without the hugging part. We want to incentivize our opponents to attack each other while we slowly build up to our spirits, such as through cards like Windborn Muse, and Ghostly Prison. My initial version of the deck tried to ramp as hard as it could to get to the spirits, but I feel that building a prison style deck will allow us to get there, while still maintaining a lead over our opponents. Once our opponents have finally turned to us, the pillowfort of value will be nigh unstoppable!

Because this deck is featuring spirit shenanigans there are a few interactions that I would like to go over real quick.

Any one of the Onna's out with a Urza's Incubator on the field. Did someone just say shatter every turn, and trigger my other spirit's triggers? I'll take 4.

Kindred Boon or That Which Was Taken with a reanimated/spent Myojinn. The Myojinn have very powerful effects that are limited from needing to be cast from the hand. This can be very difficult due to their intense mana costs. So instead we will simply throw something like Myojinn of Night's Reach into the yard, cast Reanimate Dead on it and then slap a divinity counter on it with Kindred Boon. GG losers.

All of the Hondens clearly work well together, but they also work extremely well with Sphere of Safety. With the rest of the prison cards in this deck, we can just slowly grind out the game with all of our Hondens giving us all the value we need.

Do you like 7 mana discounts? I know I do. Fist of Suns into Iname as One feels disgustingly good.

Is this deck the most competitive deck out there? No, of course not. Is it any good at all? Probably not. Does it play differently every game and have fun while doing so? Absolutely. This deck is not meant to win games very often, it is simply meant to be a deck that allows me to have fun with my favorite tribe ever printed. This deck does have the potential to win games, but if you are playing this deck you are mostly playing it for the joy of playing spirits itself. If you want to actually win with spirits I suggest you head over to Modern. But for Commander, the ultimate casual format, I feel that this deck can be a lot of fun, and can even surprise you and your opponents. I hope you enjoyed the deck! Comment and critique are greatly appreciated!
