Description

I've ask a friend what kind of deck he would like me to build for him, he said "dragon deck". T hen I asked him what were the color he would like to find in the deck, he said "{B}, {R} and {W}. It appears that only Oros, the Avenger match those two prerequisite, and this is what I build for him:

First things first, this is a dragon tribal deck and as you can see, there are some nondragons creature sneaking behind the dragons. Here why they're in the deck:

Non-dragon creature Show

1. Ankle Shanker: Since you don't want your dragons and your commander to small flies or giant potatoes, first strike deathtouch is a garantie safe attacking phase.
2. Burnished Hart: Some ramp in a 3-colors nongreen deck.

Now, here's the core build of the deck. Since Oros, the Avenger's ability deal damgage to all nonwhite creatures, I need to make sure I don't kill my own stuff after an attack phase. As you can see, there is only 18% of the mana symbol are {W}. However, the main goal of this deck is to get Celestial Dawn onto the field, then every thing works for our commander since he won't hurt his army.

Since it's a budget deck, there's not a lot of tutor in the deck. That's why card draw is important.

Draw Show

1. Dragon Mage: It can refill your hand if you have the curse of mono-{R}
2. Dream Pillager: Not really draw but still give you access to other possibility.
3. Imperial Hellkite: Mostly a dragon tutor for {6}{R}{R} and {3}... But still a tutor.
4. Skyline Despot: I know, it's not a direct draw, but hey! what a great way to introduce The Monarch in the game.
5. Greed: Be greedy, draw some card.
6. Diabolic Tutor: The classic budget tutor.
7. Painful Truths: Good way to draw 3 cards since it's a 3-colored deck.
8. Read the Bones: Scrying before drawing is always good.
9. Commander's Sphere: Always a good card to try having a top deck card to get THE answered required to win.
10. Mardu Banner: More in the deck for it's first {T} ability but can still make draw a card.
11. Staff of Nin: One of my favorite drawing card. Every turn, draw an extra card before the pre-combat main phase.
12. Sunforger: Can be use to tutor some answered.

After drawing some card you might want to do things to punish the other players board. Here's some removal to let throught all your mighty dragon:

Removal Show

1. Crackling Doom: Just a good way to deal damage while taking out any strong creature.
2. Terminate: Just a normal removal.
3. Mortify: Same as terminate but could also deal with annoying enchantment.
4. Unmake: A removal for anykind of targetable creature. (for a mere {WB}{WB}{WB}).
5. Utter End: For 4 mana, you get get rid of any nonland permanent, at instant speed!
6. Earthquake: Can deal some damage right after Oros, the Avenger's activate ability, while also wipping annoying small creatures.
7. Death Grasp: Both a way to finish a player/creature and a way to get some life back.
8. Crux of Fate: Hehe, do it before attack and everything turns out fine for you.
9. Chandra's Ignition: If your commander is out, 6 damages is usually enough to do a boardwipe.
10. Chain Reaction: In multiplayer, this card can be really usefull, since many player will get creature on the field. The more there are, the stronger the spell.
11. Dictate of the Twin Gods: Just some way to turn Oros, the Avenger's activate ability in a board wipe after doubling his 6 commander damage.
12. Deathbringer Regent: Keeps your foe's army low.

Since it's a dragon deck, I just can pass by the pump up ability that dragon have and the damage capability they have.

Pump up Show

1. Acid-Spewer Dragon: Gives a +1/+1 counter to the other dragon (can be given at instant speed).
2. Boltwing Marauder: A little help from other dragons.
3. Hoard-Smelter Dragon: Pump himself after blowing away artifacts.
4. Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury: Power up every dragon for every attacking one.
5. Pearl Dragon: Can stay alive easier (mostly in the deck to add white dragon tho...)
6. Rakdos Pit Dragon: Normal {R} pump.
7. Shieldhide Dragon: Gives a +1/+1 counter to the other dragon (can be given at instant speed).
8. Shivan Dragon: THE most common {R} pump.
9. Skyship Stalker: Normal {R} pump, but can have haste and first strike!
10. Stormwing Dragon: Gives a +1/+1 counter to the other dragon (can be given at instant speed).
11. Sunscorch Regent: Gets +1/+1 counter as opponent(s) cast spells.
12. Crucible of Fire: Well, it's a dragon deck, and it buff dragon.

Damage Show

1. Akoum Hellkite: A damage per land.
2. Ancient Hellkite: Get can rid of creature.
3. Bogardan Hellkite: 5 damage that you can divide.
4. Crimson Hellkite: {X} damage to a creature.
5. Flameblast Dragon: {X} damage to a creature or player.
6. Shivan Hellkite: Some damage to creature or player.
7. Shockmaw Dragon: Get ride of tokens.

Note

As I said in the description, this is a decklist I build up for a friend of mine. It is his first ever commander/magic deck ever. I aslo build it budget so he won't pay too much.

I also tried this deck quit a few times and I'm satisfie with what I came up with. I know that this deck can get better just by adding much greater card. There are alot of super good dragon out there, but doesn't really fit in this dragon budget deck.

If you have any budget card suggestion, feel free to tell me. I'd like to make a great deck for my friend so he would eventually fall for Magic.
