This is my Athreos list from Friendetta Episode {some number}. The basic idea I had when putting this deck together was that I wanted to use Athreos' ability to repetitively play creatures with useful ETB/dies triggers. Thus, while the deck is very similar in some ways to other reanimator-style decks, the main difference is that the creatures want to be cheap so that they can easily be played after Athreos returns them to hand.

The best creatures for this plan are those that are cheap to cast and can easily sacrifice themselves, such as Shriekmaw , Wispmare , and Heap Doll . Sac outlets such as Bontu the Glorified and Viscera Seer are also important for the creatures that cannot sacrifice themselves (e.g. Ravenous Chupacabra , Solemn Simulacrum , etc.). The other neat synergy with the need to move creatures from the battlefield to the graveyard, combined with Athreos' indestructibility, is that sweepers serve a dual purpose of getting rid of the opponent's creatures while also working as a pseudo-sac outlet for our creatures. There are also multiple reanimation effects to act as redundancies for Athreos.

Though not intentional at first, I've found that the game plan for the deck at the beginning of the game is to find allies early that are willing to let you recur creatures to help deal with your mutual opponents. Later in the game, you can then recur creatures by using players with lower life totals who can't afford to pay the life.
