Abzan, the Undying Legacy

The Abzan Houses have a long and storied history. Long have they stood in the sands of Tarkir’s deserts, a strong bulwark against the world where their families and traditions outlive and outlast. But Tarkir is changing. The Abzan’s supposed Khan has turned their back upon their histories and who the Abzan are, bowing to the Dragonlords.

Reyhan is their last – their true Khan at heart. She is unbowed by the dragons of Tarkir. She stands defiant as the Abzan ever were, a testament to tenacity and to the endurance they once revered in dragons so dearly. Standing against the Dragonlords is foolhardy; it is an impossibility. But it is the Abzan way, and Reyhan will lead her people through this darkest chapter, to ensure their identity lives on, even if she does not.

Reyhan, last of the Abzan, leads her people and their memories, living the philosophy “It is better to die on our feet than to live on our knees.”

Reyhan's Undying Legacy is a deck with dual commanders and dual purposes married with recursive strength; +1/+1 counter synergies, and enchantments. With a high concentration of enchantments, enchantment-creatures, and cards that care for enchantments, backed by powerful +1/+1 counter synergies across those creatures, Abzan aims to revel in value and persistence.

  • Constellation and Enchantress effects, along with a high concentration of enchantments, provide value and utility in many forms that back one another up and strengthen the creatures and recursion of the deck.
  • Commanders that empower the deck against destruction, with low costs to re-cast them, and cards that both reward and encourage their re-casting, from Myth Unbound helping them return from death again and again, and spells like Genesis Storm that reward you for keeping them around.
  • Cycles of recursion between enchantments that bring back creatures, and creatures that return the favour.
  • +1/+1 counter synergies and creatures empowered by Reyhan and the enchantments of the deck for powerful boards that you can swing with.
