True, Sydri, Galvanic Genius is not a Sphinx in the literal sense of the word...but she is 'sphinxish' I guess, a sort of an enigma, just look at her. And, I mean...what is she toying with anyway? :) It must be said, however, that Sydri worked surprisingly well in this deck. Her ability to 'animate' artifacts, and give deathtouch to an artifact creature proved to be gold.

Anyway: the theme of this EDH / Commander deck is Sphinxes and - not surprisingly - it features many (actual) sphinxes. I chose to have Sydri as General over Sharuum the Hegemon because the latter already was a general in my Artifact Hegemony (Sharuum the Hegemon). I also wanted to exploit the Sphinx's abilities, and Sydri had a wonderful synergy with the creatures and supported the colours I wanted to use.

Recurring ability among the Sphinxes is to 'do something' with the top cards of your library. Hence: it is important to have 'scry' in your deck, which also allows you to manipulate and stack your deck. Unfortunately I do not have the Theros Scry lands...But if you do, just add them to this deck.You'll be able to draw cards middle and late game, not only through the deck manipulation, but also through Shinxes such as: Isperia, Supreme Judge, Sphinx of Lost Truths, Windreader Sphinx and Consecrated Sphinx. Not to mention the chance of extra turns with Medomai the Ageless

Cards such as Belbe's Portal and Urza's Incubator allow you to bring the Sphinxes into play relatively quick. While Mycosynth Lattice and Chromatic Lantern ensure you'll be able to cast them (some cards require three mana of the same colour to cast).

Main combos are:

• Mycosynth Lattice + Sydri, Galvanic Genius : yes you can use her to destroy your opponent's lands, but why would you (unless the land is troublesome)? You can also animate the Lattice and give it deathtouch. Remember: you can always return artifacts to your hand from your graveyard since you've got Hanna, Ship's Navigator. Likewise, Ugin's Nexus, or Spine of Ish Sah + Sydri, Galvanic Genius : animate it after it has done what it is supposed to do.

• Sphinx Summoner + Sydri, Galvanic Genius : (or any other artifact creature) give deathtouch to your artifact creatures.

• Petra Sphinx + Sensei's Divining Top : it pays off. The combo also works with Sphinxes like Arbiter of the Ideal, Conundrum Sphinx and scrying permanents like Crystal Ball, Soothsaying, Horizon Scholar, Sphinx of Jwar Isle and Prognostic Sphinx
