Mordwyr of the Iron Masque was a Ravnos-turned-Toreador (don't ask...) who ended up the King of Avalon, the return of Caine's first childe, the King of Kindred. All throughout his story, there were many vampires who fought at his side--and many whom he fought against. And best of all was when he got others to destroy his enemies for him! But he was also the King, so despite Mathas, Fiend Seeker
representing him perfectly earlier in his unlife, for the final iteration, Edgar Markov was best. After all, Mordwyr did found two lines of vampires.

I've been looking at lowering my mana curve lately, some power cards are absolutely worth the cost, but I've never been in a situation where I needed and could pay for Ruinous Ultimatum for example, so I swapped in Toxic Deluge. Ripper is a monster and Citadel wins games. I'm still testing New Blood but I'm more focused on consistency even as I shift more to an aristocrats combo build. As great as it is, a 2-color Boros enchant that you can't really ramp into any sooner than turn 2-3 feels a little clunky. I'm experimenting now with The Meathook Massacre and have been pleasantly surprised. Also many of my recent wins have been due to the combo of Vito or Sanguine Bond + Bloodthirsty Conqueror or Exquisite Blood. With a perfect hand, I had one game where I ramped out an instant win combo on turn 3.

Oh and on the mana subject, 32 lands is sketchy, I've felt. 33 lands plus all the ramp I run (Master of Dark Rites, Dark Ritual, Cull the Weak, Black Market Connections, Smothering Tithe, Chrome Mox, Sol Ring, Ancient Tomb, Three Tree City, Phyrexian Tower, Phyrexian Altar, Arcane Signet, Talisman of Indulgence/Hierarchy, Mana Vault... Wow I run a lot of ramp now that I think about it) feels much more comfy. 32 isn't unviable, but 33 is where I feel it's at for me.

YamishiTheWickedOne, yeah, I just run that Sanguine Blood+Exquisite Blood combo in one deck, and it's my Astarion, the Decadent clerics deck. There are some in my meta who have an unreasoning hatred of this deck, so I don't dare too put too many fangs in it, or they'll convince the rest!

@Vessiliana I'm just imagining what happens in-game at that point is Astarion pulls out the Titanstring bow, clicks action surge and selects an arrow of many targets while wearing Bhaalist armor. Because especially if you ascend him he might as well be vampire Exodia in the game he's actually from.

YamishiTheWickedOne, Astarion is my favorite character in the game, and I stayed up to the middle of the night to order that Secret Lair. In my play-throughs, I ... often change Astarion into a cleric of Lathander and give him Lathander's Blood to wield. That's why I put him in front of a clerics deck!

@Vessiliana I'm sort of a hyper minmaxer when it comes to BG3, I'm currently late into act 3 on my 19th honor mode run (2 of those were origin Gale, the rest were Dark Urge) and I have the entire game planned out around the idea of getting the most stuff. And I do abuse glitches like the way you can save the tieflings in Last Light with the kidnapping glitch before killing Aylin and Isobel in order to get the Shar Spear, best melee weapon that's an actual weapon and not just upcasted Shadow Blade.
Did you know if you romance Astarion and then have him ascend in act 3 you can ask him to make you a vampire? He actually does so too assuming you're not origin Karlach.
My squad:
Durge (Wood Half-Elf) = 6 white draconic Sorcerer + 6 Oath of Vengeance Paladin
Astarion (Ascended) = 12 eldritch knight fighter (titanstring bow)
Karlach = 9 open hand Monk + 3 Thief
Minthara = 11 red draconic sorcerer 1 fiend warlock
or if I'm Gale then change him to 10 Bladesinger wizard 2 Oath of the Crown paladin.
Astarion whether he ascends or not is the best companion in terms of gameplay (happy bite is amazing) but Spawn Astarion has competition for best from Karlach. Ascended Astarion is just broken. Potential extra 40 damage per multitarget arrow.
I've been making a tier list for companions for a while now. It currently looks like this:

A Lae'zel, Wyll
B Minsc, Gale* (Gale is the best camp cleric and best non-Durge origin)

@Vessiliana the best build in all of BG3 is ascended Astarion as 12 Eldritch Knight (fighter) with the Titanstring bow and a lot of slaying/multi-target arrows. However, if you're hellbent on making him a cleric, 11 Ek and 1 War cleric is also a great choice.
Honestly I feel best cleric in BG3 is Lae'zel or maybe Minthara/Gale. Astarion's necrotic damage perk only applies on weapon hits. But if you're hellbent on running a cleric build then your go-to multiclass would be 9 light or tempest domain, and dip 2 points into Circle of Stars druid and your starting level as 1 Storm Sorcerer. Con saving throw proficiency is important. And you straight up need Luminous armor. Coruscation + Callous Glow rings are important too. I prefer Phalar Aluve just for buffs + Ketheric's shield. Lae'zel has proficiency with both due to being a Githyanki. Minthara is a good alternative due to being Minthara but Lae'zel can actually swing the sword in an emergency. (Minthy is the only S tier character who doesn't outright favor physical builds.)

Vessiliana - Love the decklist. Simple and efficient in terms of the heavy creature focus with the artifacts/enchantments/sorceries/instants playing more of just a support role...It is like I built this deck as that is usually all my deck strategies!!!
I like the additional of Warleader's Call. I do run that in one of my decks but did not think of it for Edgar. How has that playtested?
Another card I recently discovered I was considering for my Edgar deck and other token focus decks was Renewed Solidarity. Not quite as good as Anointed Procession as it it only doubles creatures and only at the end step, but plays a little faster and adds the small anthem effect.

lhetrick13, as Yamishi mentioned, Warleader's Call definitely has its moments. I have never regretted playing it. I am thinking about Renewed Solidarity, but since I have a Varina deck kicking around, too, I might give it to her, should I get my hands on one.

So the second version of Sephiroth got spoiled. If Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER Flip were a vampire he'd be the best aristocrats card in the game. Might be mainboard worthy. I'm so happy they made a variant of my favorite character who isn't just One-Winged Massacre Wurm.

Hey have you seen Black Market Connections? A little expensive in life costs if you go ham on the effects every turn but it provides a lot of value in terms of card advantage. My philosophy is that vampires are at their core a black deck, and black's philosophy is everything is a resource, even your life total. What vamps do that's unique however is after paying all that life they can rapidly gain it all back. Just some food (or blood I guess) for thought.

Vessiliana try out Clavileno, First of the Blessed. Remarkably cheap card that is outright busted in Edgar EDH. Charismatic Conqueror, Bloodletter of Aclazotz and Master of Dark Rites are also eye-catching.

So in the new set a few things come to mind. Namely Vein Ripper and Warleader's Call. Tearer is a bit steep in terms of mana but Call feels really nice here. It's Impact tremors but also an anthem.

I think an instant improvement for the deck would be to remove Skullclamp and replace it with Sword of the Animist, It'll ramp you up and help thin out your deck far better than a skullclamp would do. But thats just experience. also a great card, one of my favorite vampires EVER is not here, and think he's so underrated Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter Oh lord, he's just marveous, especially if you have Rakish Heir or Stensia Masquerade out or even a Necropolis Regent out removal at instant speed, and allows you to get rid of that pesky indestructible, Also i've found Falkenrath Aristocrat to be rather fabulous, with ANY kind of 1/1 counters mechanic you have (the ones i listed) She'll avoid most board wipes and is really resilient! Although you dont have a human to sac for the 1/1 a 4/1 indestructible flyer is still pretty darn good in my opinion. I hope this helps! Im trying to tune out my deck and see which vampires I like, and which i should switch out, currently for me my eyes are on Kheru Mind-Eater Bloodhusk Ritualist and Falkenrath Noble I havent seen much use from these guys so i may just switch them out for more control cards. I hope this helps!!!

I have added Drana, Liberator of Malakir and I am already running the Falkenrath Aristocrat. I considered Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter, but I wondered about the mana cost. I think I have a spare Sword of the Animist lying around, and I think I might try it! In the three color deck, the color fixing is as welcome as the ramp!

Yeah I love Vish kal, I have him and my two Kalitas's altered (as much as they could w/ foil) but i was thinking about putting in a Caged Sun and calling Black, Since almost all my vampires are black or black red it helps me more than it would not help....but I'm still unsure.

Try running Scapegoat, it serves 2 functions here. First, it pseudo dodges hard to dodge wraths like tuck, sac, -X-X, exile, etc. because you'd much rather sac a token and eat a personal Evacuation than end up in topdeck mode. Second it doubles as a finisher with Purphoros out.
Costing only means you can usually bait boardwipes by only leaving that 1 mana open and appearing to overextend.

Great deck; love the approach of using many cheap-to-cast vampires to overwhelm the opposition. Right now the deck contains 7 card-draw options for you, though I should point out a few of these are one-shot deals. I think there are possibilities to increase the deck's speed even more by adding just a few more reliable (repeatable) card-draw options. I would recommend a few from the following: Welcoming Vampire, Twilight Prophet, Florian, Voldaren Scion, Phyrexian Arena, Greed.

NV_1980, thank you! I do think that Welcoming Vampire would be a great addition, and I might try to squeeze in Twilight Prophet, too. The only issue is that both my Welcoming Vampires are in other decks, just like my Prophet!
I used to run Phyrexian Arena in this one, but replaced it with Necropotence. I wonder if I should try to squeeze the Arena back in, too.

If you want to be extra gross and feel like you're cheating... try Reconnaissance. This card allows you to be hyper agressive and attack all-out while avoiding any unfavorable blocks (this is the 'fair' use).
This card also allows you to untap any first stike vampires like Edgar Markov or Drana, Liberator of Malakir after first strike damage is dealt but before normal combat damage is dealt. (handy for getting +1+1 counters from Drana to your whole team)... obviously busted with Stromkirk Captain. This card also allows you to untap after normal combat damage is dealt for pseudo vigilance as the creature is considered an 'attacking creature' all the way until the end of combat stage.

That sounds great! I actually have it on my to-buy list. Do you have any vampires in your list that have done well but that I'm missing? For instance, I see a lot of people running Vampire Nocturnus, but I found that too often I didn't have a black card to turn it on.

I probably wouldn't run Vampire Nocturnus if I were you. I only run a few more black cards than you but I also run all the fetchlands that I can. This allows me to thin lands out of my deck 2 at a time when I fetch and it gives me a free shuffle if the top card isn't black. A few you could try though are Bloodlord of Vaasgoth, Adaptive Automaton, Metallic Mimic, Indulgent Aristocrat, and Drana, Liberator of Malakir.
