Vampire Socialite

Creature — Vampire Noble

Menace (This creature can't be blocked except by two or more creatures.)

When this enters the battlefield, if an opponent lost life this turn, put a +1/+1 counter on each other Vampire you control.

As long as an opponent lost life this turn, each other Vampire you control enters the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter on it.

DarkKiridon thank you for the suggestions. I really wish Stromkirk Captain was Pioneer legal as he is an old favorite of mine. I definitely plan to add Fatal Push to my deck in place of Fake Your Own Death. I am going to keep looking at what vampire to swap my Sanguinary Mage for as it just recently replaced Furyblade Vampire. I am considering Child of Night (old fav) or Vampire of the Dire Moon or Vampire Cutthroat or Indulgent Aristocrat. Sanguinary mage isn't the right fit though. I am also considering Falkenrath Perforator as it is a more guaranteed way to ensure my opponent takes damage so I can trigger Vampire Socialite when I play vampires in my 2nd main phase. The lifelink will help ensure my opponent a quick life drain from Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose.

lhetrick13 - I see that you've already made some changes to the deck.

Wanting to keep the deck purely tribal is a fair argument. I tend to think of tribal as "the vast majority of creatures being of the same type", my dragon deck, for example, runs a few goblins as they really benefit the deck. But again, if you want to keep the purely tribal that's fair enough. I've also skipped Tuskguard Captain in the past because outlast is such a shitty ability. But trample would still be a good idea, and so is menace! I'd focus on one of them or both.

Vampire Socialite is an interesting one as she is likely to change the order you play your cards. I wanted her for my vampire deck but couldn't fit her in. If you decide to play Hagra Constrictor, Winding Constrictor could be added for some kind of "vampire-snake tribe". I'm a bit unsure of Hydra's Growth myself. I once made a hydra deck with it and I could get 999/999 creatures with Heroes' Bane + Hydra's Growth . The deck played fine but wasn't at the level of my other decks. It's a fun card though!

I see your point about Realmwalker. I've never considered that those types of abilities are meant to increase your hand-size essentially.

Anyway good luck. Feel free to tag me if you want some more feedback or just want to show off new changes!

Olivia Voldaren isn't in Standard, but your playgroup might allow it.

Be more aggressive with Vamps? Think Falkenrath Pit Fighter, not Olivia? More aggressive because the Vamp tribal matters cards here are Vampire Socialite and Gift of Fangs. These cards lean towards wanting more Vamps on the battlefield and being more aggressive with attacking. Turn 1 Falkenrath Pit Fighter, turn 2 Gift of Fangs enchanting Fighter is attacking with a 4/3 turn 2. Fighter can be more draw if it's not useful anymore.

Florian, Voldaren Scion is a good three drop Vamp, holds Gift of Fangs and counters from Vampire Socialite well with first strike. His trigger can be repeatable draw with a lot of card selection first if you're doing nice damage to your opponent with Vamps which being more aggressive with Vamps helps with.

Hey, you keep getting mana screwed? But 26 lands is high amount for Vamps. Deadly Dispute is a good Standard card for draw and ramp when playing Blood tokens and little creatures especially Voldaren Epicure. 4x Dispute could replace 2x Edgar's Awakening and 2x Westgate Regent? I don't think Westgate Regent is good enough Vamp at 5 mana.

Vampire Socialite is a reason to be playing all Vamps, tribal and it's really the only true tribal card here. Could add 2x more Socialite, cutting Restless Bloodseeker  Flip and Vampire Interloper?

This is a core to consider playtesting. Good luck with your deck.

Yogei - Good stuff! Thanks for sharing your thoughts man!

I am a little hesitant about Tuskguard Captain as I do not want to lose the tribe for him. In case you have ever thought about running Tuskguard, Duskshell Crawler is similar but a little cheaper. I have never ran Rancor but do hate when an opponent uses it so that is a decent option. I also thought about Hagra Constrictor for mass-menace.

I originally did have Winding Constrictor in this deck and dropped it to keep the tribe pure but do not disagree with you that it would be nice to have to add a 2x multiplier on that counter production. Vampire Socialite has some merit as it does have a lot of synergy with the aggressive nature of the deck. I almost included it originally but decided against it last minute for some reason. Good suggestion! Hydra's Growth is sick but might be a little slow or easy to deal with as none of the vampires I am running have a natural evasion from removal.

I think you are right about Slaughter Specialist. I liked how it came in at a 3/3 compared to Cordial Vampire's only 1/1 but Cordial's ability effects all my vampires while Slaughter's is more selfish. Realmwalker I think I might try to add another copy of before I decide to drop. The idea with it was to give me the ability to play creatures from the top of my library giving me a hand advantage since I lack draw engines. It is a nice ability combined with a 2/3 body is pretty decent for 3 CMC.

Always good to get some fresh perspective on stuff...let me think on this a few days but this has potential to make the deck better for sure. Thanks for taking the time to take a look!

Nice deck idea, it has potential! "+1/+1 counter when you deal damage" is a good strategy, but it needs utility to be effective. If you can't get through your opponent's defence, your deck slows down a lot. You need to make your opponent unwilling or unable to block you. Since you are playing green, I suggest leaning into trample. Tuskguard Captain or Rancor are good cards but you might find something else.

Hardened Scales is a great fit for the deck and to make the build-up of +1/+1 counters even more explosive, you could pair it with Winding Constrictor. Vampire Socialite and maybe even Hydra's Growth could work well.

I'd probably drop both Slaughter Specialist and Realmwalker. I think you have too few destroy spells for Slaughter Specialist's bottom-ability to be consistent, and I'm wondering if _Realmwalker really is all the useful?

Hey, I'm not familiar with MTG Arena, but is it difficult to get 4x of a card? I ask because you're entire deck minus lands is 1x and 2x of cards which is not good for consistency. Playing 4x of a card means you'll have more chances to draw it in a game where as if all cards are 1x then you may never draw that card in a game.

The color pie shows you need an equal amount of black, red and white color sources and that's not really doable with a 15 basic land three color mana base. Some advice is play Rakdos Vampires and only splash white with dual lands as well as 4x Secluded Courtyard for a few cards? Other than the dual lands the rest of your deck is low budget because of this I'll give lower budget card suggestions.

When you play tribal you really want a reason to be in the tribe. For Vampires there's only two cards here that are tribal, Edgar, Charmed Groom  Flip and Vampires' Vengeance. Edgar is legendary meaning you can't have more than one of him in your control which sucks since he's a Vamp lord. Other than Edgar and Vengeance there's really no reason to be playing all Vamps and Vengeance is more of a sideboard card against aggro opponents then main deck.

4x Vampire Socialite can be a reason to play Vamps because being aggressive with Vamps then makes Vamps bigger when Socialite enters the battlefield or other Vamps after Socialite. Being aggressive with Vamps to take advantage of Socialite means playing more of one drop and two drop Vamps. Bloodtithe Harvester is 3/2 two drop making it a good attacker and Vamp to make bigger. Can also be creature removal if you need that.

Florian, Voldaren Scion has first strike as well as can be repeatable card advantage when you're aggressive with Vamps. He's good and can trigger the turn you play him if you cast him before you attack. Even though he's legendary you want to consistently cast him turn three, for that reason I would play 4x of him. Plenty of ways to discard other copies of Florian for value.

Socialite, Harvester and Florian is a nice trio of Rakdos Vamps. Voldaren Bloodcaster  Flip is a flying two drop Vamp who can be repeatable source of Blood and Falkenrath Pit Fighter can be an aggressive one drop Vamp who can be saced later if not useful to draw.

Example Vamp core for budget tribal Vamps:

Next is Vamp support and Welcoming Vampire can be repeatable draw from a flying Vamp, reason to splash white. Being rare and expensive price might be difficult to get more of Welcoming. If you can afford more than add more. Nighthawk Scavenger has flying and other keywords making it a nice Vamp to make bigger, but it's power relies on your opponent's graveyard making it a better sideboard Vamp when you know what your opponent is playing.

Edgar, Charmed Groom  Flip can be top of the curve Vamp and a reason to splash white, but Edgar at the top means that you don't need white in the early turns of the game which is helpful to cast black and red Vamps.

Example of Mardu with heavy Rakdos Vamp base:

Deadly Dispute is a good card in Standard especially when you're playing little creatures and Blood tokens. Infernal Grasp is more unconditional instant creature removal and being black is easier to cast then white removal.

Dispute, Florian, Welcoming, Fighter and Blood is a lot of main deck draw which can really help gameplay. This example needs red or black mana in the early turns for Vamps making 4x Secluded Courtyard very helpful because it enters the battlefield untapped and can also cast white Vamps.

Anguished Unmaking and Vindicate are better than Bedevil and Utter End Imo. I honestly don't think that Sorin Markov is very good for this deck. Sure he sets one players live total to 10 but I wouldnt want to pay 6 mana for that. Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord is pretty good as a replacement for him imo. I would definitely play Patriarch's Bidding in this deck.

Skyblade of the Legion is a really low impact creature. You don't have that much lifegain in the deck so I don't think that Markov Purifier is any good for your deck. YOu dont have that many Swamps so Nirkana Revenant propably doesnt do much.

Florian, Voldaren Scion Vampire Socialite Dusk Legion Zealot Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet are some Vampires that you could add
