Game Plan

A brief run-down of the deck's categories:

• Heads I Win, Tails You Lose – exploit interaction between Diaochan, Artful Beauty/Mogg Assassin and Shroud/Indestructible/Protection from red
• Need a Hand? – help out another player
• So-and-So Looks Pretty Scary... – encourage targeting opponents
• Attacking Me? That’s So Passé – discourage targeting us
• Armed and Dangerous – threaten to blow stuff up
• Wacky Politics – zany miscellaneous cards

Staples Disclaimer

I find it hard to think of a deck that wouldn't benefit from great mana rocks like Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, etc. However, my priority in EDH is brewing, so I’d rather avoid always playing the same nonland staples, even at the cost of power level. If you prefer stronger decks with more staples, I'd recommend checking out https://edhrec.com/top/r and https://edhrec.com/top/colorless to find them.

Instead of running the best mana rocks, I opted for political ones like Victory Chimes and Lavabrink Floodgates. I did include a few nonland staples such as Skyline Despot and Court of Ire because they synergize with our strategy of goading (e.g. Disrupt Decorum).

Alters

I made the three alters in this deck! I borrowed the Darksteel Plate and Spectral Searchlight from my deck The Literal Dark Knight. Humble Defector's art reminded me of a scene from Avatar: The Last Airbender, so I made a new Humble Defector for this!
