Sauron, the Dark Lord

Legendary Creature — Avatar Horror

Ward—Sacrifice a legendary artifact or legendary creature. (Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player sacrifices a legendary artifact or legendary creature.)

Whenever an opponent casts a spell, amass Orcs 1. (Put a +1/+1 counter on an Army you control. It's also an Orc. If you don't control an Army, create a 0/0 black Orc Army creature token first.)

Whenever an Army you control deals combat damage to a player, the Ring tempts you.

Whenever the Ring tempts you, you may discard your hand. If you do, draw four cards.

Cheers m8, happy holidays!

So having tested Sauron, the Dark Lord into the dirt since his release, I think you're gonna need to get him on the board waaay faster than this list is currently doing if you really want to be mean like that. I'd recommend a few of the following "means" lol:

Rocks: Talisman of Dominance, Talisman of Creativity, Talisman of Indulgence, Dimir Signet, Rakdos Signet, Izzet Signet, Fellwar Stone & Springleaf Drum

Rituals: Dark Ritual, Cabal Ritual, Culling the Weak, Burnt Offering, Sacrifice, Rain of Filth, Bubbling Muck, High Tide, Rite of Flame, Infernal Plunge, Pyretic Ritual, Desperate Ritual & Seething Song.

Cost Reducers: Nightscape Familiar, Sapphire Medallion, Jet Medallion, Ruby Medallion, Cloud Key & Urza's Incubator.

And then there are other value pieces like Conqueror's Flail to go along with The Reaver Cleaver to help you get out of hand once he's summoned, & Faerie Mastermind to draw you cards while your commander builds your board from your opponents actions. Mystic Remora is also great in this sense and is still pretty cheap compared to Rhystic Study. Teferi's Ageless Insight is another banger post-commander that should be considered imo, especially since you can't run Necropotence as efficiently as other decks can.

For more villainy, consider Dauthi Voidwalker, Opposition Agent, Praetor's Grasp, Mnemonic Betrayal, Bribery, Acquire & maybe even something like Empress Galina to really peeve your pod.

Peace!

saluma I like Tiamat, it is 100% a DnD BBEG and dragons are big and nasty.

KBK7101 I like The Tarrasque, but it does feel kinda meh, similar to Ghalta who's very strong, but just doesn't feel as 'world-ending'. I'd forgotten the gods though, maybe some sort of aristocrats-animator thing. The captain is fun, but he has the more 'hit and run' thing going for him as a pirate.

DreadKhan I've played with Kresh the Bloodbraided before, he can be fun but he can also feel a bit clunky which was why I;d dropped him previously. Sauron, the Dark Lord has that traditional world ending feel, and his ward cost means he dodges most removal. I'd forgotten goad was a thing, it brings me back to Queen Marchesa, a more political goaded build to manipulate other decks. In terms of the decks competing against one another, I think they're fairly balanced at the moment, but they're also still being tuned and adjusted.

legendofa Well, gonna start with a massive thank you first, that's a wicked great breakdown. With this massive list, maybe I'll add a second in command deck along with the BBEG one....

I'm not worried about it being directly connected to the forgotten realms, just kinda having a DnD class/BBEG 'vibe' for lack of a better word (I mean, my paladin deck design is knight tribal helmed by Syr Cadian, Knight Owl) Among that massive list, Konda, Lord of Eiganjo, Progenitus, Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath, Umbris, Fear Manifest, Momir Vig, Simic Visionary, and Malfegor all stand out. Your dimir list also reminded me of Runo Stromkirk  Flip as a big monster summoner.

TypicalTimmy Dihada is an interesting choice, maybe a deck full of brainwashed missing adventurers. A lot of these suggestions keep leading me back to mardu, so I may take a deeper dive there.

Either way, this has been massively helpful. Course, now I have the opposite problem, so many choices to narrow down.

I feel like you could also look into running a lot of wipes, stax or other salt inducing things, such that the deck will naturally end up the archenemy and everyone will unite against them. Do the other decks compete with one another? If so, something that does Goad or Goad-like effects would be cool. TBH, if I had to pick a commander to try out as an Archenemy type deck, I'd be very tempted to go with Kresh the Bloodbraided. 5 mana for a 3/3 isn't very spicy, but he quickly can get very, very out of hand, it's not unusual for you to do something like Mandate of Abaddon or Phyrexian Scriptures and then one shot people one at a time with your gigantic Kresh. Lots of cards synergize with Kresh, ranging from Grim Feast and anything that works with/is Rite of the Raging Storm. Big Goad effects like Disrupt Decorum and Spectacular Showdown also add a nasty surprise, and Insurrection is a great turn-around-is-fair-play type effect for an Archenemy. You can even make the deck on the cheap using stuff like Fleshbag Marauder (there are a bajillion at this point, especially if you'll pay 4 for a 4 power one), these generate a lot of power if you also have Savra, Queen of the Golgari (or something similar) out. Pestilence and similar effects are very good in here, they let you both clear out weenie blockers while also pumping Kresh ever bigger by winnowing away the chaff. Kresh will quickly crush everyone, you just need to add fun stuff like evasion or trample to make his immense power count. If you build this right it should be quite scary to play against, and the odd Fling can be a nice way to punish the players for killing Kresh.

Another great option might be Sauron, the Dark Lord, the more the party does the bigger the 'threat' gets, and it's almost impossible to remove Sauron. It's easy to sneak in some powerful Changelings to work as a better base army, but the whole 'orc army' thing is in and of itself very stereotypical in D&D. I like Grixis because you get Blue, meaning you have access to the odd counter. In particular I'd look into stuff like Stronghold Machinist, effect-on-a-stick creatures are good for an Archenemy because they tend to soak up the opponent's cards, even something like Royal Assassin is card advantage over time. Since the Army can get pretty big you can use Voltron stuff with it, and if you use Anthems (Berserkers' Onslaught, Dauthi Embrace, and Whip of Erebos come to mind) they'll work on both the Army and Sauron, which is cool Big Bad energy for the deck.
