Survival of the Biggest

This was once a budget Simic commander deck based around Vorel of the Hull Clade, but over time and with the introduction of Kaladesh, and Conspiracy 2 I've manage to create an upgraded version of Vorel. This deck does two things great, ramp and draw. The funny thing is that I don't have many cards that allow me to ramp or draw, but the few I do have are extremely powerful and game changing.

So why Vorel? Well he allows me to double up. And many cards benefit with having counters Fathom Mage Master Biomancer Chasm Skulker Cultivator of Blades. But just in general having +1/+1 counters on creatures make even the smallest of creatures a giant threat.

Simic is awesome because it allows for versatility, you can be defensive with counterspells Plasm Capture that also provide mana, Rewind and even protection Simic Charm Inspiring Call which can allow for draw. But with versatility you don't just have to be on the defense but you can overwhelm the battlefield with big threats Avenger of Zendikar Avatar of the Resolute Scute Mob Undergrowth Champion, and finally the mother of them all Prime Speaker Zegana.

With Simic comes ramp, cards like Cultivate Kodama's Reach Gyre Sage allows for quick ramp allowing you to bring out your bigger cards quicker. But with the arrival of Selvala, Heart of the Wilds you can instantly get more than 10+ mana when you have Vorel doubling the power of you creatures. And my favorite ramp card that allows feel great when played is Boundless Realms, literally doubling your lands.

Now the finally why this deck works so well is the synergy. This deck practically has a perfect ebb and flow you have so many combos in this deck that you don't have to rely on your commander or particular cards to win although Vorel and a few other cards Primeval Bounty Inexorable Tide Kruphix, God of Horizons and many more can give you the upper hand.
