Anyone who has played against me in our Commander pod knows that I am Mr. Infect. I love that mechanic with a passion. I love the way it works, I love that it's an alternate win condition, I love the flavour of it, and I love that it's one of the defining features of my favourite MTG setting of all time, Mirrodin/New Phyrexia. Now, I have an Atraxa, Praetors' Voice deck, and yes, it's crazy how fast it can enable an Infect win. But, I wanted to see if I could make Infect work in a different, less "gotta win fast" setting.

I decided to build mono-white.

I know I know, big challenge. But hey, I like a challenge. >:)

So, first step was deciding on a commander. I'm a Vorthos kinda guy, and I did want something that would pair well with trying to infect my opponents to death, so Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite was a shoe-in. Board control and Anthem wrapped up in one hella creepy package? Yes please.

With that out of the way, then came the rest of the deck building.

Because we're in mono-white, the deck uses a standard ramp package of Sol Ring, Mind Stone, Darksteel Ingot, Gift of Estates, Wayfarer's Bauble, Sword of the Animist, Solemn Simulacrum, Burnished Hart, Gilded Lotus and Caged Sun, to try and ramp up to drop Miss Porcelaine.

Then, cards like Spear of Heliod and Cathars' Crusade add additional anthem effects to build a board of hard-hitting Infect critters, and the crusade pairs particularly well with Blade Splicer, Master Splicer, Sensor Splicer, Precursor Golem, Myr Battlesphere, and Myr Turbine.

Grafted Exoskeleton allows non-Infect creatures to become infectious, and Rogue's Passage or Whispersilk Cloak allows them unimpeded access to an opponent's life. Akroma's Memorial and Eldrazi Monument are also potential avenues for easy max swings.

Finally, as our commander is sure to attract a lot of hate, Gift of Immortality and Shielded by Faith are nice ways of ensuring she sticks around.
