Myrsmith Discussion

JediCat on We are Myr. Resistance is futile.

It saddens me immensely than we HAVEN'T GOT a Mythic Rare myr yet!((( I understand that they're like ants and legends are highly unlikely, but at least some kind of cool myr hivelord of sorts...

I like Mtgmintcard's and Card Kingdom's forms to search cards. There I could also see outright how much do they cost.

Myrsmith imho can fulfill holes in the mana curve and produce Myrs, though she is frail, and maybe too slow.

Thank you very much for your kind advice. I was afraid we could spiral down into an stupid argument, but it turned into a cool and informative dialogue and I'm very grateful for that;)

If you want to play a mono white tribal myr deck consider Myrsmith, Ghostly Prison, Palladium Myr, Myr Propagator, Strionic Resonator, and Orzhov Signet or any other w/other color signet.

While myrsmith may break your colorless myr tribe, it is a huge benefit. Combine this with the (2) that comes from tapping palladium + propagator + orzhov and you'll be able to always drop 2+ myrs whenever you cast one from your hand. To top this off you could splash in Wake the Reflections to aid in bursting force propagators with;propagator + myrsmith + palladium + resonator + signet + reflections.

ultimately if you decide to go the above route then I'd toss an interesting land in the sideboard for amusing laughs. Westvale Abbey  Flip.

Here are the decks I run. Take into account that I have no one to play with so they are tested basically against my other decks and some of the decks I find here on TappedOut:

Myrsmith: White weenie artifact build. Very vulnerable to removal and boardwipes. Focuses on getting cheap equips, artifact creatures, and artifact cantrips out to create myrs. Can overwhelm if they can't deal with her when she comes into play. Does not deal well against some of the top tier commanders.

Changeling Titan: Voltron ramp. Contains mostly ETB creatures that ramp, tutor, or draw with green staples for the same. It is easy enough to deal with the Titan but it has to be dealt with and removing it gives you additional value off of the ETB creatures. Extremely vulnerable to flying and boardwipes.

Marsh Crocodile: ETB/discard. Runs a bunch of ETB weenies that let you draw, discard, or return a permanent to its controllers hand. Commander is only used if you don't have a card to bounce a creature to your hand to continue the value train. Has lots of fliers and weenies on the ground and contains graveyard play. Takes a while to win, arduous to play, probably not fast enough to beat out a Psychatog or Spellheart Chimera.

Seasinger: Aikido/control. Use your opponent's best creatures/commander against them and counter spells that would stop you. Vulnerable to removal and aggro. Probably my strongest deck in 1v1.

I've got some more but they're not optimized/in paper yet. I am currently cataloging all of the combos in Pauper EDH, my next goal is to try and make a top tier combo deck that can rival fast commanders like Psychatog and Spellheart Chimera.

Hey! Just a quick note here, Blade of Selves will make tokens that all see each other and then the Legend rule applies :\

  • 11/4/2015 If the equipped creature is legendary, the tokens will all enter the battlefield. Then youll choose one of them to remain on the battlefield. The others will be put into your graveyard. Any enters-the-battlefield or dies triggers of the tokens will work.

Great for any creatures with ETB effects, though.

As for any suggestions I can think of - I'm a huge Artificer fan :)

Sram, Senior Edificer seems extremely good in any voltron deck.

Inspiring Statuary and fabricate creatures like Angel of Invention or OG's like Myr Battlesphere would help cheat out your bigger creatures or Gods.

And you may as well go podracing here! Helps metalcraft! Maybe consider the stronger ones like Smuggler's Copter to draw, or Skysovereign, Consul Flagship? Or if you just want to bust out a big body - Consulate Dreadnought

Gold Myr, Iron Myr and Palladium Myr all seem decent as dorks.

Indomitable Archangel protects your stuff.

Goblin Welder, Eldrazi Displacer and Slobad, Goblin Tinkerer are all very useful; Welder recurs anything that might have been destroyed, Slobad protects what is about to be destroyed, and Displacer blinks your battlesphere - or an attacking general.

Myrsmith just helps churn this token cauldron for you to improvise with.

Argentum Armor is messy and janky, but I love it. And you can probably cheat it out.

If you had the money I would highly recommend accelerating the mana. Maybe not Mana Crypt (if you can, get it) but at least Mana Vault Basalt Monolith and Chrome Mox. You could also consider Unwinding Clock in that event.

I'd also consider Daretti, Scrap Savant. His plus ability is insane, and let's paint a picture for his minus;

Sac a myr token, bring back a Sword of Feast and Famine.

OR

Sac a Scrap Trawler, it triggers, bring back your poor Mana Crypt then Daretti triggers and bring back something else.

TheDevicer on Breya flicker EDH

I decided to build a fairly weak breya deck on purpose. Instead of blinking, I chose to make lots of thopters instead. Things like Whirler Rogue, Myrsmith, Angel of Invention, Sharding Sphinx, etc. Just go wide with her with some anthem effects and combo backup. It's a fun deck to play.

I admire you for not trying to break Breya, because lets be honest its not that hard to do. I also have the same mentality in my Breya deck. She is just such a sweet tool box and so much fun to play. Take a look here Pan is the Man! err..Woman? for some inspiration. IMO token producer don't need to go much further than a few good ETB creatures so card like Myrsmith are not that necessary. A very good replacement could be Marionette Master. With Panharmonicon on the field you can make double tokens or 3 dudes and pump her to 4 attack, making people lose 4 life per dude lost. BTW 100% you need Pia Nalaar and 1000% need Inventors' Fair.

Depending on how your deck works, Flamewright can be a solid addition as it's cheap and has a low-cost activated ability to make artifact tokens. Could be comparable to Myrsmith since you don't need to first play an artifact to create a token, but it does tap, so you can't do it more than once.

Also I've been playing with Goblin Kaboomist and Tamiyo's Journal to get more fodder for you, the latter is more solid, but both can potentially work. Reckless Fireweaver would be good with either of those as well as with your flicker strategy.
