THis is the average deck from EDHrec. I am using this as the basis for another Phage deck that I am building with a smaller budget. The main concept is to run a lot of things that can abort the game loss on casting phage from the command zone. Command Beacon and Netherborn Altar slip Phage into your hand, negating command tax on a relatively expensive commander. Torpor Orb, Lich's Mastery, Stunning Reversal, Sundial of the Infinite, and Platinum Angel will avert game loss on command zone casts. Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves, Whispersilk Cloak, and Trailblazer's Bppts allow for fast evasion for the near instant swings and eliminations. Lilliana of the Dark Realms, Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, Magus of the Coffers, Cabal Stronghold, Jeweled Lotus, Nyx Lotus, Guilded Lotus, Dark Ritual, and Nirkana Revenant all provide exceptional mana boosting. There are a number of rituals that will allow for you to search for answers. Phage is an obvious closer, K'rrik, son of Yawgmoth offers a way to close if you can keep him around long enough, Lilliana Vess allows for recursion of everyones graveyards.
