I've tasted the forbidden fruit and now I own a flicker deck. Instead of having Brago, King Eternal be the commander, however, I am choosing to run Ephara, God of the Polis. The main reason for this is so I don't have to be as heavily reliant on other card draw sources and the deck can be a little more self-sustaining by default.

When it came to building a flicker engine for this deck, I leaned rather heavily into instants and sorceries. Cards like Ephemerate are ideal when they cost 1-2 mana. Other 1 mana cards I run like this are Cloudshift and Essence Flux. In the 2 mana slots, I run are Momentary Blink and Touch the Spirit Realm (Technically 2 mana for the channel ability). Cards more mana-hungry than this typically need to target 2+ creatures. Eerie Interlude, Ghostly Flicker, and Semester's End fit the bill. Also, in the face of a board wipe, I can cast Cosmic Intervention, which is a hilarious card.

I am also running some more repeatable flicker effects in the form of permanents. For some great end of turn effects I can rely on, I run Conjurer's Closet, Teleportation Circle, Soulherder, and Thassa, Deep-Dwelling. These are all pretty amazing in the deck, as they just recycle the value engines. Mistmeadow Witch can flicker one or more creatures on command, which is always a welcome utility to have. In addition, there are creatures with ETB flicker effects. Most notably, I run Charming Prince, Felidar Guardian, Flickerwisp, and Restoration Angel.

What does the deck intend to flicker with these sources? There are several utilities on creatures, and so I will cover the main ones. For attack prevention, I run Forbidding Spirit and Stonehorn Dignitary. To ramp, I run Kor Cartographer, Sailor of Means, and Solemn Simulacrum. To protect myself, I run Seht's Cat and Selfless Squire. To disrupt our opponents' plans, I run Lyev Skyknight and Venser, Shaper Savant. For further card draw, I run Wall of Omens, Mulldrifter, Aether Channeler, Spirited Companion, and Inspiring Overseer. Other utilities which do not have their own categories include Archaeomancer, Peregrine Drake, and Naru Meha, Master Wizard.

Among my flicker targets are ETB matters cards. For example, Lunarch Veteran   and Distinguished Conjurer gain 1 life for each ETB. Some of the more potent of these effects include Panharmonicon. These, alongside a great number of ETBs, can draw the game to a swift close.

One of the ways this deck becomes powerful is through its use of infinite combos. For example, grouping Naru Meha, Master Wizard with a flicker spell can result in infinite ETBs. This can result in several outcomes, depending on what is out on the board. Another way to achieve a similar effect is by having cards such as Felidar Guardian and Restoration Angel out at the same time, each one able to flicker the other. If there are other things with which to interact, such as Panharmonicon, then this combo can do work under the right scenario.

Finally, this deck has answers to various problems. I run common creature answers such as Rapid Hybridization and Pongify, but I also run answers to permanents, in general, such as Oblation and Generous Gift. In addition, I run two board wipes. The first one is Doomskar, which I can foretell and leave on the side for when I need it. The second one is Time Wipe, which lets me bring something valuable back to my hand before wiping the board. Both of these are good because Ephara, God of the Polis remains unaffected by them due to her indestructibility. I also run answers like Imprisoned in the Moon because I think they're funny.

This is the basis of my deck. It is meant to gather resources quickly while attempting to take control over the rest of the board states. Kind of proud of this, but I do hope to continue adding various effects to improve upon it.
