For creatures, seems like you have the deck split three ways between graft, adapt, and evolve. I would recommend taking out the graft creatures like Plaxcaster Frogling and Aquastrand Spider , I just don't think graft is a very good mechanic. I would also take out Skatewing Spy , considering most of your creatures have either evasion or a relevant activated ability already. Also Feral Hydra feels like it's easily outclassed other cards. That's eight creatures out, 28 to begin with feels high, so maybe add a combination of 2-3 Lorescale Coatl and 2-3 Avatar of the Resolute . Also this one is just my opinion, but I feel like something like Verdurous Gearhulk could be a better finisher than Vorel of the Hull Clade , especially since your 3 drop slot is pretty packed and you curve out at 4.
For non-creature spells, Plasm Capture is a little bit too high costed and the payoff isn't too relevant to you, consider taking it out for another Cancel or Frilled Mystic , however you may just want to take out all the Cancel for Mana Leak s. If you took out eight creatures and only replaced 4-6, then you have room for some more spells like Incubation / Incongruity .

Hi BubonicPlague7 and wallisface, thank you both for your thoughts, I really do greatly appreciate them. I agree the deck would function as either GB or GW and that it would greatly reduce the strain on the mana base, but for now I would really like to make a build work with the full 8 copies of constrictor and mentor.
BubonicPlague7, Hardened Scales is sadly out of my budget range for now (though I own one copy). I agree Dromoka's Command works wonders for the deck, though I think as a 4 of its too often a dead card (2cmc put 2 counters on a creature is not worth it). I'll scale up to 3 to test it out, I think it might be a meta call.
Hi wallisface, I agree with most of your comments. Inscription of Abundance might indeed be better fit as a sideboard card, I'll move 2 to the board to try it out. I'll replace the charm and Incubation / Incongruity by 2 more Huatli's Raptor though that will be 2 flex creature slots, since I'm sure there's better cards fit there.
Between harsh mulligans and a desire for more protection spells and creatures, I'm looking for a solid source of card draw. Gambit and Inspiring Call are slow and awfully clunky spells, any recommendations on keeping the hand filled without them?
Rancor would be nice! I've also been toying with Felidar Umbra and the likes, any thoughts on that?
I hard disagree with your take on Ajani though, on a budget the card does exactly what the deck wants, and often ends the game when it lands or buys an extra turn with the lifegain. Lurrus seems fun, I just don't think playing the 2 drops without actually getting counters makes it worth it in this deck. With Avatar of the Resolute it would be better, but I don't think the deck affords another prohibitive 2 drop (that works poorly as a 2 drop as none of the one drop creatures enter with a counter).

Some thoughts. I think you want to build this as an aggro stompy deck - as it’ll want to close the game out early.
From a competitive modern standpoint, i don’t think the following cards you’re running are worth it:
Inscription of Abundance is kindof good but maybe better as a sideboard option against decks where you need to fight creatures to death. I think this mostly just doesn’t get enough value.
Selesnya Charm doesn’t do enough for you.
Inspiring Call gets you good card draw, but doesn’t apply pressure, and will likely give your opponent enough breathing room to stabilise
Incubation / Incongruity isnt good imo, you want to be applying pressure every turn in the form of creatures.
Tezzeret's Gambit is again, useful, but slow. I don’t think its worth it in this build.
Hardened Scales i don’t think fits here, just cause its not a creature that can swing for damage.
Ajani, the Greathearted it waaay too slow to be useful.

Thanks for the suggestions! I agree, Ponder would be great, but for right now, it's a bit too expensive for me to justify grabbing a playset. Brainstorm sounds like a nice pick as well, but I don't know if this deck could handle a slower mana base. I could possibly use Vortex Elemental (and maybe I could be fine with a few Evolving Wilds) to make Brainstorm good in the deck. Pili-Pala infinite mana is pretty cool, but I would need some other pieces in the deck to make it worth using (mana activated card draw engine into Walking Ballista).
Since all of the important draws to get in the deck are creatures, I feel like Incubation / Incongruity could work out really well.

The problem I'm having with Instigator Gang Flip is finding space for it. I sincerely don't know what to pull. The problem with Instigator gang is that is quite expensive for a 20 land deck that also contains Winota, Joiner of Forces and Huntmaster of the Fells Flip. If I push for a higher curve, I need to include more lands as well, which further exacerbates the problem I'm having.
Maybe I could go higher than 60, if we're being realistic, but if I go higher, it just becomes a pile of good things, as opposed to a thought and gameplay exercise. IDK. I am having a blast with it so far, though.

The CMC of the deck is really high, how about Growth Spiral to help you ramp out? Alseid of Life's Bounty can also really help to protect your combo, but dies to Shatter the Sky (although it can keep your Champion alive through the wipe if you choose to sac it that way...). Grafdigger's Cage might be worthy of sideboard.

I originally included x3 copies of Adventurous Impulse but decided to substitute them with Incubation / Incongruity. The latter just lets us dig deeper into the deck for bogles/mutate creatures, plus it's flexible and can be used for mid-late game targeted removal.
