Spellheart Chimera Discussion

hmm cool deck. but the CounterBurn decks I know have a Enigma Drake and/or a Spellheart Chimera as their creatures...

and how about Fiery Impulse? and maybe Send to Sleep?

Take out: Gut Shot, Mutagenic Growth, Mystical Tutor, Merchant Scroll, Enigma Drake, Spellheart Chimera, Vivid Crag.
Add: Delver of Secrets  Flip, Remand, Electrolyze, Grim Lavamancer, and maybe Condescend and Shard Volley or Rift Bolt or Searing Blaze which ever one you prefer. If you got the money Goblin Guide, Cryptic Command, and more Snapcaster Mage's. Sideboard could use some of these Spell Snare, Breaking Point, Flames of the Blood Hand, Sudden Shock and maybe Vendilion Clique and/or a Bribery to steal Emrakul, the Aeons Torn or Progenitus from an opponents deck. Guile Is a cool card as well.

Valengeta: Thank you for the suggestion of Smash to Smithereens that's a great sideboard card to rotate in depending on the local meta. Plus, three damage is three damage! Spellheart Chimera is going to my maybeboard for sure.

I like how this is going. The spells are similar to the ones on my Izzet deck, but the endgame is different. Consider Smash to Smithereens for protection against artifacts, with 3 damage included, and Spellheart Chimera to swap with Enigma Drake if you think the trample comes in handy against who you are playing. Since you have a lot of control, at first glance the -1 resistance shouldn't be a problem

Contrary to what NarWolf said, I would recommend Enigma Drake over Spellheart Chimera. Lightning Bolt is one of the best removal spells in Modern, and the difference between 3 toughness and 4 toughness is huge. If you'd like, I have an extreme-budget Delver of Secrets  Flip deck that might be helpful.

Izzet time to be a Delver? *Extreme $20 Budget!*

Instead of Enigma Drake, you could use Spellheart Chimera. You get it with trample, but with 1 less toughness.

Have you considered creatures like Enigma Drake and Spellheart Chimera that use the spent spells for their power? Potential late game closers once you run out of instants/sorceries.

I could definitely write up Primers. I am in the process of updating my entire Primer and adding new sections for combos (not sure if they could be viable outside of tutors) and niche lists and could link to your website within the Primer. Not sure when I could have an article done by but a schedule of once or twice a week depending on content seems doable.

I think something we could do to start analyzing the meta is riffling through TappedOut, reddit, Salvation, etc. and find which commanders are most used. Also brainstorming decks using Bloodbraid Elf, Spellheart Chimera, pyschatog, Mistmeadow Witch, and Invisible Stalker among others and seeing how broken we can make them. Also deciding whether Ghostly Flicker warps the format.
