Spellheart Chimera Discussion

Here are the decks I run. Take into account that I have no one to play with so they are tested basically against my other decks and some of the decks I find here on TappedOut:
Myrsmith: White weenie artifact build. Very vulnerable to removal and boardwipes. Focuses on getting cheap equips, artifact creatures, and artifact cantrips out to create myrs. Can overwhelm if they can't deal with her when she comes into play. Does not deal well against some of the top tier commanders.
Changeling Titan: Voltron ramp. Contains mostly ETB creatures that ramp, tutor, or draw with green staples for the same. It is easy enough to deal with the Titan but it has to be dealt with and removing it gives you additional value off of the ETB creatures. Extremely vulnerable to flying and boardwipes.
Marsh Crocodile: ETB/discard. Runs a bunch of ETB weenies that let you draw, discard, or return a permanent to its controllers hand. Commander is only used if you don't have a card to bounce a creature to your hand to continue the value train. Has lots of fliers and weenies on the ground and contains graveyard play. Takes a while to win, arduous to play, probably not fast enough to beat out a Psychatog or Spellheart Chimera.
Seasinger: Aikido/control. Use your opponent's best creatures/commander against them and counter spells that would stop you. Vulnerable to removal and aggro. Probably my strongest deck in 1v1.
I've got some more but they're not optimized/in paper yet. I am currently cataloging all of the combos in Pauper EDH, my next goal is to try and make a top tier combo deck that can rival fast commanders like Psychatog and Spellheart Chimera.

I originally had those Soulfire's when they were like $10-$20, so now that the deck is very affordable, I think it would be great for an entry level deck. What I want to do to improve this deck is:
- 1x Blighted Cataract
- 1x Desert of the Fervent
- 1x Desert of the True
- 1x Searing Blood
- 2x Shock
- 2x Firebolt
- 1x Spellheart Chimera
- 1x Unsubstantiate
- 2x Reflector Mage

@Hyperalgialysis: I'm not so big a fan of Enigma Drake or Spellheart Chimera because in playtests, spells don't tend to stick around in my graveyard for too long. They usually get cast back some way or another, either by cards like Charmbreaker Devils (which is amazing with Rite of Replication) or Mizzix's Mastery. I also feel like Firebrand Archer is also pretty weak, but Guttersnipe good, I just gotta figure how to fit him in.

Enigma Drake Guttersnipe Spellheart Chimera and Firebrand Archer are all solid creatures. You may find some benefit from tossing in planeswalkers in your colors, Chandra, Flamecaller is cheap right now and all three abilities are relevant.

Thanks so much Arian_the_Fox. Jace, Unraveler of Secrets is a great draw engine and plansewalker, I think he's a great addition. Before Amonkhet Spellheart Chimera was in Enigma Drake's place but I've found the change is a good one. My friends like to play lots of red and he sits just out of reach of most removal. As for the Blistercoil Weird combo I think I want to stick soely with the scry synergies to keep it as tight as possible. Thanks again for the suggestions! They helped out a bunch.

Blistercoil Weird+ Paradise Mantle synergies great with Serum Visions & Titan's Strength.Spellheart Chimerais an alternative to Enigma Drake. Trade off being that Drake survives Anger of the Gods & Lightning Bolt but Chimera has trample. A single Jace, Unraveler of Secrets might be a viable late game draw engine with built in bounce. Love the deck concept. Good luck.

Its pretty hard to run counters like Mana Leak in a deck like this because it creates tension within the deck. What do you do on turn 2, leave up Mana Leak, or play Stormchaser Mage? If you want to be agro then its probably Stormchaser Mage but then this kind of puts Mana Leak in a weird spot because you're trying to pump your creatures and get ahead and probably aren't leaving up 2 mana very often. Something like Spell Pierce is much better in this kind of deck because it allows you to do more on your turn and still leave up protection. I would cut the Charm, Leak, and Surgery, for 1-2 Spell Pierce.
I'm also pretty skeptical about 18 lands and 7 of them are tapped lands when you are trying to be agro. If you really need tap lands for mana fixing then make sure they are both your colors like Wandering Fumarole or Swiftwater Cliffs which also have a little utility. Probably should only keep it to about 2 a piece and make the rest Islands and Mountains.
Bedlam Reveler (refill your hand, almost always cost )
Young Pyromancer goes wide
Cryptic Serpent (Almost always cost )
Kiln Fiend kills very very fast
In a U/R spell based deck you're gonna only want 13-18 creatures and the rest should be instants and sorceries. If you cut some of the subpar creatures I mentioned and the Charm, Leak, and Surgery. You should have plenty of room for some more spells!
Spell Pierce as mentioned above
Apostle's Blessing. Your never gonna tap for it but you can pay 2 life if your looking for a spell to protect your stuff in response to removal or to push through blockers.
Forked Bolt can pick off opponents little stuff like against Elves or Affinity and can go upstairs
Mutagenic Growth is another free spell to pump and trigger prowess for only 2 life
Serum Visions is a great turn 1 play and helps set up your next couple of draws
A list COULD look like this:
Anyway I hope this was helpful!

High Tide, Baral, Chief of Compliance, Past in Flames, Pyromancer Ascension, Stroke of Genius and any form of counterspell probably all get an insta include in this deck. There are also a plethora more synergistic creatures for Izzet Spells which you may want to look at, such as Delver of Secrets Flip, Spellheart Chimera, maybe even Treasonous Ogre and many many more.
