_Moonie_ on Possible Regenerate Use?

I'm still a little cloudy on some of the mechanics of Magic and regenerate is one of them I'm somewhat unfamiliar with. But I recall one of my first decks that I built when I was first introduced was Orzhov using the Exquisite Blood Sanguine Bond combo, but I also used High Priest of Penance and Skeletal Grimace

Is that used correctly? Would it work to activate his ability or would the regenerate block any damage from going through keeping it from being activated?

Really cool deck! I've always liked lifegain and deathtouch. So, here's what I can offer:

You’ll want to lower your mana curve. You have a lot of 5 drops; without ramp, the deck seems too slow. The game, if uninterrupted, should end within 6 turns.

I'd drop Anowon, the Ruin Sage. Being a 5 drop, an "easily" removable creature, and a "beginning of your upkeep" trigger, he is too slow. You could maybe keep 1 if you only had 2 Bloodlord of Vaasgoth.

I like Bloodlord of Vaasgoth with all the lifelink. He’ll make early drop creatures more relevant later game. I’d only include 2 of him if you’d like to go a more aggro route; maybe include 4 of him if you’d rather delay the early game with removal and play the later game.

With Captivating Vampire, “tap five” feels really expensive without some vampire token generator. However, I guess each time you steal a creature, that creature could be tapped too (kind of) costing you 1 less each time. The “lords” +1/+1 for 3 mana is always good in tribal decks. I’d probably only include 2 Captivating Vampire and then find 2 lifelink vampires for 2 or 3 mana. Maybe Vampire of the Dire Moon for the early game meat shield. She really can slow down the early game.

I'd replace Child of Night with Gifted Aetherborn. With deathtouch, you can move into a “bad touch” (deathtouch + trample) strategies or a “ping” strategies like deathtouch + Viridian Longbow. That bow will also allow you to ping the player enabling Bloodthirsty 3. That blow has a high equip cost but could be versatile for you.

I see what you’re trying to do with Skeletal Grimace. This is mono black, you could also consider the reanimation strategy; a couple Unearths for the lower costing creatures, maybe 1 Zombify for the 5 drops.

You should have 4 Dismembers. With all your lifegain, that removal card is really good. It’ll even remove indestructible creatures. You probably want 2 or more Feed the Swarm in the main deck instead of any Doom Blade. It’s more versatile and you have the life gain to compensate for its drawback. I’d probably go with 4 Feast of Blood if you add more 1 and 2 drop vampires. All this removal may be good enough to delay the early game then setup with big vampires later.

Your going to want card draw. May I suggest replacing Demon's Horn with something like Read the Bones.

KBK7101 on Sengir and Kediss - Dark Privilege (v1.6)

dlombart - Sadly, I haven't had as much time recently to play as much as I'd like, so the deck has only seen a game or two but it has seen LOTS of solitaire/goldfishing/playtesting. The deck ran extremely well (even in a loss) in the last game it actually saw which is detailed in the Games Played tab in the description. It should be mentioned, however, that my "meta" just consists of the decks I have on here that my brothers and I pit against each other. I think my decks are relatively light on removal when compared most other commander decks these days, so protection for Sengir is probably priority number one when building your own deck. Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots are the most obvious choices. Blessing of Leeches, Consecrated by Blood, Skeletal Grimace, Soul Channeling and Molting Snakeskin are some more auras similar to Dark Privilege that might be worth checking out.

Skeleton Tribal unite! Anyways love the deck, I also made a skeleton tribal honestly thought I was the only one. I took the skeleton theme to the max, meaning I only put a card in my deck if it has a bone, or skeleton in the picture. Some cards I would suggest if you want more bones in your deck. Skeletal Grimace for the creatures you don't want to die. Gnaw to the Bone really good for heals. Retrieve this one speaks for itself and finally Read the Bones for the draw. not sure if some of these are legal, haven't really played pioneer, but great deck keep it up.

Have a very similar deck I'm planning on posting. One trick I'm planning on adding is using High Priest of Penance along with Skeletal Grimace to allow him to take damage to activate his ability, but have that damage removed through the regeneration. So Skeletal Grimace could be something you could consider adding

Thanks for the suggestions Tr_iHard! Nice to see someone approaching this commander from a similar angle. Cannibalize is just awesome, I'll have a look at how I can fit it in here.

As far as Rime Transfusion and Skeletal Grimace go, they were both in the early drafts of this deck but eventually I realized that they don't quite work the way I wanted them to. They both grant an activated ability to the creature itself, meaning the creature's controller would get to choose whether to activate, not me. Disappointing as it is, sticking with cards like Blessing of Leeches, Strands of Undeath, etc. where the ability is attached to the aura itself (leaving me as the one who decides to activate it) will have to do.

Great deck, +1 from me. I'm running a fairly similar take on Xantcha but focus more on combat tricks instead of enchantments. Some cards you might like are Cannibalize, Undying Evil, Heartless Act, Blood Frenzy, Tainted Strike and False Orders. Delirium and Backlash are pretty funny, too.

Rime Transfusion would work well since you're using snow-permanents anyway and Skeletal Grimace offers repeatable regeneration.
