Sol'kanar the Swamp King

If you're big on creatures, Sedris, the Traitor King can reanimate them for you. Any discard/mill effects become quite a bit better in such a deck. Stuff like Buried Alive, Entomb and Final Parting all become much better in Sedris, as do stuff like Vile Entomber or Oriq Loremage, even Dreamscape Artist becomes really interesting. Self-mill is much better too, as long as you're not on a combo. Sedris is great with a higher MV deck, since you can reanimate big creatures to swing the one time, and stuff like Court of Cunning can resupply you with creatures as needed, and there are lots of cards that care about a higher MV (Protection Racket is incredible if you aren't on a combo and you just want people to either take damage or give you tons of cards, it's hilarious with Esquisite Blood as you gain what they lose) as I already mentioned. With Sedris I feel like you'd want to look for creatures that have good ETB effects, and build less around combo and more around either attacking with Unearthed bodies or using ETBs like Callous Bloodmage to generate value.
Thraximundar is also a reasonably interesting choice if you want an older Commander and don't mind being slower, and Sol'kanar the Swamp King is great if you run lots of black spells and everyone you play against runs black, Swampwalk and lifegain are small but neat abilities to have. Keep in mind I tend to skew older when I look for Commanders, and like less heavily played ones, but the new Xander is very strong (might attract a lot of attention), Crosis is strong without attracting as much attention right away, Bolas is always a good pick if you like the character, Garza Zol, Plague Queen can get bigger and draws the odd card, it's a bit harder to find good Commanders for creature driven decks in Grixis, most of the Commanders care about instants/sorceries/artifacts, hopefully some of these will be helpful.

The set of Legends introduced both Legendary creatures and multi-coloured cards into the game. More important is the second for the sake of this comment.
Dakkon Blackblade , of the same set as Halfdane , oddly adheres to what we see today of the ordering, being .
Lady Evangela bears the mana cost of .
More inconsistencies can be seen in Sol'kanar ()and Tetsuo Umezawa (), Xira Arien () and Vaevictis (), and, lastly, Angus () and Ragnar ().
Oddly enough, all of the four Naya legends ( Johan , Jacques , Palladia-Mors , and Hazezon Tamar) have the same colour ordering.
All of the two-colour combinations (except for Rakdos ?) are backwards from what we see today, yet are all constant.
The Dark's Scarwood Gobbo () is similar to Legends' mana costs, an ensample being The Lady of the Mountain () (my favourite card of all time).
The afield system seems to have been rectified in Ice Age, for it had Centaur Archer (), Diabolic Vision (), and Chromatic Armor ().
(Legends had Jedit Ojanen ())
My concensus here is that WOTC did not have much of a grasp as to amounts and mana costs in the debut set, whereupon inconsistencies may be seen about the expansion, yet they righted this two releases later.
Not much is actually in this comment, but others may use this information as they wish to sieve through Magic's multi-coloured monstrosities.

I do hope to see Book of Rass and Righteous Aura in this set, because they are both excellent cards for EDH that very much need reprints, and Sol'kanar the Swamp King, Shepherd of the Lost, and Carnage Altar would all be very nice, as well.
Hi_diddly_ho_neighbor, WotC did print a Secret Lair that contained the enemy-colored fetchlands, but I am fairly certain that they said that there would be another reprinting of them, this year, as well. Can anyone here confirm if WotC actually said that?

From the listed commanders, I'd consider the following very interesting:
Jolrael, Empress of Beasts: Some neat shenanigans with Ezuri's Predation.
Sol'kanar the Swamp King with Throne of Bone, Demon's Horn and Aetherflux Reservoir to abuse Bolas's Citadel. That one I actually like the best.

SMASHER101, shadow63 is correct in that some cards that I wish to see reprinted have never been printed in the new frame style and also need new art, and, to continue that subject, it would be nice to have another reprint of Doubling Season . I know that that card has already been reprinted several times, but anything that reduces its price is good. I also would like to see a reprint of Sol'kanar the Swamp King , since I am certain that he would look awesome in the new frame style.
Again, is Commander Collection replacing Signature Spellbook, or will the two product lines coexist?

TheVectornaut on Legendary card or Legend
6 years ago
If you look at the Gatherer entry for Captain Sisay, you'll see that her ability text was errata'd to mention only legendary cards. This is because the "Legend" type on older cards has been replaced by "Legendary" followed by any other types. You can see this by looking at the Gatherer entry printed vs. oracle text for something like Sol'kanar the Swamp King. Sisay can look for any card that is legendary. This includes legendary creatures, noncreature legendaries like Godsend or Yawgmoth's Vile Offering, and now planeswalkers. With the release of Ixalan, all planeswalkers were changed to be legendary.
"306.4. Previously, planeswalkers were subject to a “planeswalker uniqueness rule” that stopped a player from controlling two planeswalkers of the same planeswalker type. This rule has been removed and planeswalker cards printed before this change have received errata in the Oracle card reference to have the legendary supertype. Like other legendary permanents, they are subject to the “legend rule” (see rule 704.5j)."
