Gavony, Innistrad: Selvala, Heart of the Wilds has prepared for months to embark on a scientific expedition to Traverse the Ulvenwald, one of the last places said to house the reclusive and incredibly rare species of forest elephant, Loxodonta Terastodon. Using the latest technologies of Lifecrafter's Bestiary, she hopes to document and capture footage of the elephant in its natural habitat, and hopefully find more than one herd to estimate the overall health of the species.

But her expedition will not just focus solely on the elephant itself: Selvala and her team will also record data for species such as the Worldspine Wurm, the natural prey of the forest elephant, and several endangered hydra species. Her team of fellow researchers have studied such areas before and are adept at navigating through the ancient woodland, relying on guides such as the Somberwald Sage and native Wood Elves to the Ulvenwald.

Fellow researchers Nissa Revane and Rishkar, the Peema Renegade are optimistic about Selvala's endeavors: "We hope that she is able to capture rare footage of this species," they both told the Innistrad Enquirer, "it's been several years since the elephants were last seen in the wild, and any finding of their whereabouts will surely be a considerable victory in the world of ecology and conservation."

In fact, it was by following the footsteps of Nissa's Pilgrimage and heeding Rishkar's Expertise that Selvala was able to chart the estimated location of the elephants in the first place. "I just want to find them," she says. "I want to prove once and for all that these majestic animals are alive and healthy and bring value to the world." She plans to hunt Tooth and Nail, she told reporters and won't return home until the elephants are found. Realistically, the expedition is planned to last for several weeks, as supplies to and from the Ulvenwald can be tricky to deliver. But that doesn't deter Selvala in the least, she says.

"After so many years of piecing together these clues, I'm confident that this expedition will provide a bounty of scientific data on not only these animals, but for several other key species living in the Ulvenwald as well," she commented.

This is my goofy Selvala, Heart of the Wilds EDH deck, based off of the interaction between Terastodon and generating clue tokens. The goal is to get Terastodon out, have it constantly gobble-up clue tokens, only to be sent back to my hand or through Cloudstone Curio and start the process over again, generating an enormous elephant army (sounds fun to say, right?). From there, game-winning combos like Pathbreaker Ibex + Wild Beastmaster/Craterhoof Behemoth/Overwhelming Stampede will allow the elephants to pulverize my opponents' life points, ensuring swift victory.

Some combos:

• Quirion Ranger + Sakura-Tribe Scout + Tireless Tracker = generate extra clue tokens per turn
• Cloudstone Curio + Terastodon + Tireless Tracker + Wood Elves = more clue tokens AND elephant tokens
• Pathbreaker Ibex + Craterhoof Behemoth/Overwhelming Stampede/Wild Beastmaster = creatures "pumped" about combat
• Perilous Forays + Ulvenwald Mysteries + Worldspine Wurm = tokens and forests for generating clue tokens
