A work-in-progress for a Brawl deck commanded by Kumena. Ideally, Deeproot Elite would replace Disdainful Stroke .

Game Results

1. Against Kari Zev, Skyship Raider Mono-Red Burn and The Scarab God Dimir Cycling.

The deck itself went off okay. I got taken out pretty early game by a lot of burn. The -1/-1 counters from The Scarab God 's Archifiend of Ifnir kept Kumena weakened but not dead, so he could not be recast. I did get an unsummon, which I used on Kumena, but it was too late.

2. Against Kari Zev, Skyship Raider Mono-Red Burn and Gishath, Sun's Avatar Naya Dinosaurs.

Thank goodness for the high mana cost of Gishath, I had some time to setup my board. Unblockable merfolk are great, and putting more and more +1/+1 counters on them made them more resistant to Kari's burn tricks. Seafloor Oracle got played mid-game...and never removed (I am not sure the Kari player new just what value I was getting from Seafloor Oracle ). At one point, I was a bit concerned about decking myself, due to the card draw, but the deck went-off well and closed down the game. Watertrap Weaver and Unsummon were great against Gishath, once it hit the field.

3. Against Kari Zev, Skyship Raider Mono-Red Burn, Temmet, Vizier of Naktamun Azor Tokens, The Scarab God Dimir Cycling, and a fifth deck.

The deck performed well. Made it to the final two.

4. Against Kari Zev, Skyship Raider Mono-Red Burn, Temmet, Vizier of Naktamun Azor Tokens, and Gishath, Sun's Avatar Naya Dinosaurs.

Once again, the threat of Gishath terrified us all. The deck performed admirably with its unblockable creatures, thanks to +1/+1 counters. But Belligerent Brontodon plus Savage Stomp was rough on my team, and I was fed my own medicine from the pounding I had given.

5. Against Aryel, Knight of Windgrace Orzhov Knight Tribal, The Scarab God Dimir Cycling, and Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons -1/-1's.

Managed to drop Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep to board wipe, but the Aryel, Knight of Windgrace player came back and restabilized quickly, along with removing Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep . Got taken out first.

6. Against Kari Zev, Skyship Raider Mono-Red Burn, Zacama, Primal Calamity Ramp, and Muldrotha, the Gravetide .

This game went okay. I got so much value out of tapping for card draw after blocking. The Zacama, Primal Calamity player came after me quite a bit, which led to me not building up the forces very well. I unfortunately never got the Herald of Secret Streams or Seafloor Oracle out, nor did I draw the River's Rebuke that would have been super helpful. After the Zacama, Primal Calamity deck cleared my board, the Muldrotha, the Gravetide swung in for a cheap and easy take-down. Fun game with new players, though.

For its final match before rotation, this deck, the first Brawl deck I ever built, won...using Simic Ascendancy, the newest addition to the deck

After Game 1:

• Out: Expel from Orazca
• In: Kopala, Warden of Waves

After Game 2:

• Out: Golden Guardian   (not doing much), Evolving Wilds (I feel like I have enough mana), Negate (only one of these does not feel in line with the deck's purpose, Forest (slight change to color ratio).
• In: Tatyova, Benthic Druid (card draw, life gain), River's Rebuke (board wipe), Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep (River's Rebuke on a stick), Island (slight change to color ratio).

After Game 5:

• Out: Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep (too much mana for the board wipe, plus see below for extra board wipes), Wind Strider (pricey flash has only been good for blocking dinos), Forest (see below), Island (see below).
• In: Sentinel of the Pearl Trident (late game commander save), Merfolk Trickster (commander hate and scaring people with two mana up), Salvager of Secrets (getting back River's Rebuke !), Botanical Sanctum (mana fixing).

Guilds of Ravnica standard rotation:

• Out: Botanical Sanctum , Spring / Mind , Unsummon , Open Into Wonder
• In: Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep , Mission Briefing (getting back River's Rebuke !), Disdainful Stroke , Island .

Ravnica Allegiance updates:

• Out: Forest , Curious Obsession , Essence Scatter , Sentinel of the Pearl Trident
• In: Breeding Pool , Simic Ascendancy , Essence Capture , Zegana, Utopian Speaker
