Anikthea, Hand of Erebos is a true warrior princess. Her lore mirrors that of the Spartacus show - battling endlessly night after night to win freedom from bondage. Erebos basically cuts her a deal and now she is the ultimate enchantress warrior.

Personally, I like that this is a different take on Abzan. It seems like all my Abzan decks were graveyard synergies. This one is as well, but gets to make use of all the boss enchantments on MTG, in addition to Enchantment Creatures. If only we get access to "Enchantment Lands" (other than Urza's Saga of course!).

So what are we doing here? Despite the access to tons of tutors in these Abzan colors, I decided not to make a combo deck. This build draws a metric ton of cards, has answers/board wipes to threats and hits like a truck in response to threats. I am organizing it as follows:

Offensive Enchantments:

Defensive Enchantments:

Removal/Board Wipe Package:

Deck Notes:

Reduction of the cost of Enchantments is a powerful effect. These are not Mana rocks or game winning by any means, but these are all useful spells.

  1. Cloud Key
  2. Starfield Mystic
  3. Herald of the Pantheon
  4. Jukai Naturalist

Calix, Guided by Fate is an all star boss in this deck! I would argue this is best card as it does pretty much the same thing as your Commander.

Winning the Game:

  1. Go to War with Anikthea! - Use her ability on the ETB and Attack Trigger to build an army of 3/3 Black Zombie creature enchantments. Remember these are copies of an Exiled Enchantments from the graveyard and they retain those abilities too.

  2. Sigil of the Empty Throne - in a deck loaded with Enchantments and Enchantment creatures, Sigil is a bomb. You can cast enchantments, draw cards and very quickly have an army of 4/4 flying angels. Archon of Sun's Grace is a light version of the same effect. It creates 2/2 flying Pegasus tokens, but you do not have to actually cast the Enchantment for this to trigger.

  3. Devotion to the Gods - you have God creatures who become Indestructible behemoths when your devotion reaches certain levels. Karametra, God of Harvests, Heliod, God of the Sun and multiple copies of Erebos all can go to war in devastating fashion.
