Commander / EDH UB (Dimir)

Reznorboy

Lazav is here for two reasons:

  1. He surveils

  2. He costs 2 CMC

Now, this deck could basically function without playing the commander, but he's a nice addition. The focus of this deck is tutor chains into aggressive disruption and card advantage.

This deck runs an extremely high number of tutors and cantrips to make the deck consistent. The general plan is to start by playing some lands and basic disruption cards such as Permafrost Trap. Then the tutoring begins.

You pretty much always want to tutor for Reliquary Tower and some ridiculous card advantage card, such as Necropotence Then, you want to either draw or tutor for a card such as Pox. You will use your massive hand size to overwhelm your opponents after casting Pox.

Basically, after casting Pox or deathcloud, (preferably by turn 4), you then have basically hit the reset switch on the game, except you have 10 more cards in hand than your opponents.

You will play lands, mana generating combos such as Empowered Autogenerator with Voltaic Key and Tezzeret the Seeker, and eventually start to run out of life, and therefore resources. This is an essential time.

What you can do from there is tutor for and play Forbidden Crypt. This allows you to put all of the exact cards (tutors) back into your hand (preferably with Midnight Oil or Treacherous Blessing to speed it up). (NOTE: Do NOT cast any cards except for permanents after casting Forbidden Crypt, and do not cast Forbidden Crypt unless you have THE card in hand/grave.)

What is the THE card? All Is Dust, of course! It allows you to wipe the board, including Forbidden Crypt, so you can continue on with the game. (All Is Dust will allow you to sac the crypt first so everything goes to grave.)

You can then tutor for cards such as Corrupt to regain life.

Lastly, all you need to do to win is continue this process. Elixir of Immortality will gain you life and restock your library, while you repeatedly play Death Clouds until everyone else is dead. (Yes, it takes a long time). Alternatively, Sickening Dreams or an infinite combo involving Necropotence, Second Chance, and Elixir of Immortality (giving you infinite turns if you have the right amount of cards in your library) can work well too.

Thank you for reading, suggestions are appreciated (though I already know a couple cards such as Demonic Tutor and Proteus Staff deserve a spot).
