Forbidden Crypt

Enchantment

If you would draw a card, return a card from your graveyard to your hand instead. If you can't, you lose the game.

If a card would be put into your graveyard, remove that card from the game instead.

Something else thats been abandoned are Lich, Lich's Mastery, Immortal Coil, and Forbidden Crypt.

Id love to see them actually work in a deck that doesnt just try to donate them.

Yesterday on Looking for black enchantments with …

Mono Black can't typically remove its own enchantments, so I had the idea to create a God-Eternal Bontu deck with the idea of using her to sacrifice those enchantments.

I'm looking for enchantments (or other permanents) with only black or colourless colour identity, that have a nice pay-off, but can become serious problems if left on the battlefield. Along the line of:

But not along the lines of Lich and that stuff that's good to donate but not to sacrifice.

Thanks a bunch in advance.

So, I posted this comment on a different Belbe, Corrupted Observer deck, sue me.

However, that person completely ignored me (probably thought I was crazy (was probably partially correct)), so I'm reposting this in case you decide to listen.

I have never tested what you are about to read.

Belbe triggers during each postcombat main phase, so it would make sense that she would be better if you had more of such.

There are 3 cards in Green/Black which are able to do that - by providing extra turns - Ugin's Nexus, Temporal Extortion, and Seedtime.

Personally, I would simply disregard Temporal Extortion, because I think it's bad.

The other two - however - can get interesting.

Since those 2 cards are so applicable and useful - and few in numbers - you'll want tutors. (Trust me, I build all my decks to be even more budget than this and I use tutors - there's a way.)

So, assuming you play basically all of the budget tutors, you can tutor for a card such as Holistic Wisdom or Forbidden Crypt. This allows you to get your tutors BACK to go tutor even MORE. (You'll need to hit Forbidden Crypt with a Krosan Grip or something to avoid losing, don't worry, you can tutor for it).

So, I would cut all of the Eldrazi and big swingers and etc. for only cards that fit into one of these categories - 1. Provide Mana 2. Drain opponents' life 3. Draw cards 4. Tutor 5. Combo pieces

I would keep the life draining ratio about where its at, maybe a little less. I would keep removal to a minimum because it will only prevent you from losing in a situation where the opponent has no backup, when you could instead just win.

Basically, under my vision, the deck would be almost entirely draw spells, mana rocks, tutors, and then the exceptions.

The way you would win in this deck, is instead of swinging with Eldrazi, creating a combo by playing Ugin's Nexus, blowing it up with a Krosan Grip, playing Mirror of Fate and using it on the Ugin's Nexus, then Restock to get back Mirror of Fate and the Krosan Grip, and then repeating that with Mirror of Fate putting back Restock, and making opponents lose life during each of our infinite turns to win.

Also forgot about Gonti's Aether Heart

I think the deck overall is already pretty good, but there's a few pivotal changes that could be made.

Belbe triggers during each postcombat main phase, so it would make sense that she would be better if you had more of such.

When I first saw the commanders for the deck, I thought the idea would be to incentivize other players to attack each other, while picking off opponents by playing and gifting cards like Demonic Pact, Forbidden Crypt, Immortal Coil, Lich, Lich's Mastery, and Nefarious Lich. I figure you'd gift them with cards like Puca's Mischief and Role Reversal. I'm not gonna tell you how to build your deck, but I figured you'd enjoy considering make a separate one centered around this.

A few cards that haven’t been mentioned yet, and that are relatively budget: Nine Lives Forbidden Crypt Immortal Coil Nefarious Lich Abyssal Persecutor works as a great insurance policy when it’s in the other side of the battlefield, as well as protecting yourself and stopping the opponent from using “win the game” cards. Soul Echo is pretty nice, it only requires a gift effect. Transcendence is similar, but can’t be cast when you’re above 19 life. Stunning Reversal can help save you if you can’t give one of your self-harm spells to your opponent. It’s also a great way to save yourself. Exquisite Archangel works similarly. Demonic Pact Curse of Vengeance gives you a nice boost when you eliminate a player. Shauku, Endbringer is a slower self-harm, which can be used on your side too. If you want, you can also use a Pacifism effect on it and give it to an opponent.

Duplicity is a great card for more co-op builds.

Something to think about if you do put Morality Shift in your deck is possibly adding Forbidden Crypt. Only thing is that you’ld want to find a Stifle effect in your colors or an artifact or colorless source that does the same to protect your graveyard from Bojuka Bog effects.
