Mindwrack Liege Discussion

Hey all, maybe y'all can help me with some decision making regarding the creation of a Ramos deck. Right not it's a pile of 200+ cards with various overlapping theme, which I will list below. If you have built around him yourself, or have ideas regarding inclusions that'd be great. A public list is not yet available but there really is nothing set (except the giant pile of aforementioned cards). On another note trying to stay as budget as possible so try to stay below $5 a card but don't let it limit your suggestions.
For those that don't know of Ramos, Dragon Engine, he resorts to turning +1/+1 counters into cash (Mana). That being said it would make sense to include a +1/+1 counter theme. Also, the more colors a card has, the better to generate more counters. Counter doubling cards like Vorel of the Hull Clade and Corpsejack Menace do well to ramp/boost with Ramos.
Charms: These are cards that usually offer choices, making them versatile for many situations and some can match to certain themes. Jund Charm for example is Artifact removal, restricted creature removal, or +1/+1 counters, while Silumgar's Command allows 2 choices. While they can fit any theme, there are so many of them its hard to choose the best ones. Alot of them offer control options (counters, removal, bounce), which them steers away from creature based deck (I think anyway), which wouldn't really require a +1/+1 counter theme.
A lot of multicolor cards seem to offer Cascade, this would allow Ramos to grow faster however may cast spells I'd rather hold onto (I.e. charms). Also could tie into a Voltron theme I suppose... didn't add alot of support in that area though.
Another possibility is using a go wide token strategy paired with the various Liege's of Shadowmoor/Lorwyn I.e Murkfiend Liege and Mindwrack Liege. Some are better than others, and would probably require a more expensive land base.
That's it for themes, would be nice to tie them all together but there's just not enough room for it all. There are also a few things I'd like opinions about. The first being I am thinking of including the Borderposts, how many I'm not sure, may just have a few to cover the prevalent colors. My reasoning is that the are mana rocks that have colored cost, ergo triggering Ramos if later in the game. My question is if it is worth it or to just include signers instead. Secondly, Is Urza's Filter worth including considering every card is multicolored or to risque? Thirdly, The Guildgates and The land that says "you win if you have all 10" worth it or no? Lastly.... I thought I had more, maybe I did and am now just drawing a blank, who knows.
If you've made it this far, thanks for reading. Leave your comments, suggestions, alternate ideas, and/or builds and I'll get back when I can. TIA!

Clout of the Dominus, High Market, and Mindwrack Liege are super spicy. I'm working on the more infinite shenanigans version of the lost over at Revenge of the Nibblers. I'd love your feedback; what you say about Goblin Bombardment has pushed me over the edge on my decision to replace it (probably with Clout).

DanowarElf - Good to hear. So I was playing the other night and was able to knock Uril out and was about to run over the other 2 decks... Until... Massacre Wurm hit the field when I was tapped out, lol. It sucked but it was funny as heck, took 42 damage from my 21 insects on the board.
I have also added Mindwrack Liege to buff the buggers.
/Cheers and long live Izzet!

As a huge fan of dragons this catches my eye. My suggestions would be:Creatures- Take out Phantasmal and Outcast replacing them 4x Slumbering Dragon. This gives a one drop to start the game with as well as makes your opponent question whether to attack or not. Since dragons can be high to cast (and these are) those rounds saved by Slumbering will save you. I agree with Lame_Duck on the Crucibles. I would replace them with Mindwrack Liege to help you pump out threats faster and still provide counters. Though not a dragon its still very useful.
Sorcery- I can see Ral being useful here but very situational. I would sideboard him and instead add another copy of Serum Visions (or 2). That draw power and scry is going to be needed to get out creatures or aid in a fast setup since you do have Sarkhan's Triumph to fetch.
Lands- 2 mountains my friend. A good general rule is to use 22 lands in a 60 card deck and here you will need them to even out the land/spell balance. This will provide way more consistency.
Artifacts- For this particular deck the first thing that comes to mind is replacing Fellwar with Scourge of Valkas. One of my favorite dragons and an absolute beast in a deck such as this. If instead you want to keep that mana source maybe Geosurge.
Sideboard- As I mentioned bring Slumbering into the main. Why the Sandwalla?
Wish the best of luck to you!

Arpanilla Ooh Mindwrack Liege! Great suggestion and it was a tough call not to run him. But heres why I cut him in the end. The +2/+2 for my locusts is nice, but Obelisk of Urd gives me the same bonus and is always free. Being able to recast LG for 4 mana is super cool and Id initially considered Dragon Arch to do this job as well. However, after six or seven times of having the opportunity to cast the Leige, Id find myself always having a better strategy available- LG was either already protected with an equipment, or I had access to a more efficient creature buff. So I tried cutting him and since then never looked back.
Its so funny because looking at the card it just seems PERFECT for the deck, right? But once its put to the test, 6 mana is a lot to pay for something that half-asses two things and is still susceptible to the most common type of removal in the format: creature removal. Excellent suggestion though, seriously! And I appreciate that you liked the deck enough to comment. Thanks! :)

Hey great deck you got here, and a very clever title too! I think making LG hexproof or giving him shroud is a great idea. He really is pretty pricy to keep bringing out, and definitely a setback in the whole Locust making mojo. Why no Mindwrack Liege though? I can see you're only running 8 creatures and assume that's the reason. Love the overall concept, not too mean :) Thanks for sharing your idea! +1 from me!

So how much of the competitive nature of this deck are you wanting to keep up? I say this in regards to replacements of cards based on less the cost to buy as much as the cost to play, such as Mindwrack Liege being replaced by the likes of Favorable Winds or War Horn if increasing power is its main purpose. Obelisk of Urd actually might be better but idk.
Also, if you don't mind, could you explain how people "revise" a deck versus opening up the "edit" option and adding/removing cards directly. (my own Kefnet build I would like to do this with so I can better keep track of what I've had in the deck).
