Commander (1)

Commander: foil Ruric Thar, the Unbowed

Artifact (2)

Planeswalker (1)

This is a Ruric Thar, the Unbowed cEDH deck. This deck is many things. It is a creature ramp deck that pushes for giant creature wins. It is a noncreature hate deck that punishes your opponents for playing noncreature spells. It is an almost all creature deck with over 53 creatures in it. But let's get on with the deck primer.
The strategy with this deck is going to be going for a creature win by ramping into big creatures, attacking with them, and winning like that.

This deck has numerous noncreature spell hate cards and creature protection, so it is deadly against control decks.

Strengths:

  • Great against control

  • Great against decks with almost no or no creatures

  • Great against artifact decks

  • Great against enchantment decks

  • Fun to play with

Weaknesses

  • Very Creature Heavy decks

  • Burn decks

Decklist

Craterhoof Behemoth

An awesome creature to ramp into. When you get this card onto the battlefield, it's almost always game over for your opponents.

End-Raze Forerunners

Another awesome creature to ramp into. This is basically Craterhoof in a different form.

Domri, Anarch of Bolas

I know, it's a noncreature spell, but it works perfectly in this deck. Anthem? Check. Ramp? Check. Protects your creatures from being countered? Check!

Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma

Since this deck has a lot of creatures with power 4+, this card is a staple.

Beast Whisperer

An awesome creature for card advantage.

Drumhunter

A ramp card and card advantage in one. With this card in this deck, you'll be drawing cards like crazy.

Elder Gargaroth

There is no reason why not to put this card in this deck. It's crazy powerful!

Neyith of the Dire Hunt

Since we have several cards in this deck that cause your creatures to fight, this card is very strong. Plus, we'll be doubling our creature's power, which is hella helpful in this deck.

Runic Armasaur

A nice card drawer and a pretty decent body too.

Soul of the Harvest

For six mana, you get a 6/6 with trample and a card draw when a creature you control enters the battlefield? What's not to love?

The Great Henge

This is a staple in this deck with card draw, creature pump, ramp, lifegain. It has all that we need.

Protects from being countered:

Allosaurus Shepherd

Amazing $97 one-drop that protects our creatures from control/counterspell decks.

Destiny Spinner

Pretty decent budget card. Since we have 8 enchantment creatures and 2 noncreature enchantments in this deck, this card really works.

Prowling Serpopard

Simple card with a very decent build.

Rhythm of the Wild

It either can boost the power/toughness of your creatures, or let your creatures attack straight away!

Spellbreaker Behemoth

A big, tough, sturdy creature that makes him and other big creatures you control uncounterable.

Vexing Shusher

Awesome two-mana creature. Just awesome.

Other protection:

Archetype of Endurance

A 6/5 that grants all your creatures hexproof!

Arbor Elf

Simple land untapper.

Birds of Paradise

Very potent mana dork.

Domri, Anarch of Bolas

Drumhunter

Talked about this earlier. Nice card draw, moderate ramp.

Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, and Llanowar Elves

Simple green mana dorks.

Grand Warlord Radha

Best ramp creature in the deck. No question.

Klothys, God of Destiny

A very strong staple in this deck.

Llanowar Tribe

Just a mana dork. Might take it out, but for now, it's in.

Mina and Denn, Wildborn

Nikya of the Old Ways

One of the best staples in this deck. Since the deck is nearly all creatures and lands, this has no downside!

Radha, Heart of Keld

Strong ramp creature with a nice build.

Sakura-Tribe Elder

A small land ramp creature.

Savage Ventmaw

Amazing ramp. Adding six mana whenever it attacks, we'll get giant stompy creatures in no time!

Shaman of Forgotten Ways

Nice mana dork with an awesome, expensive ability that can win you the game if you get the mana to activate it.

Sol Ring

All cEDH decks have these!

Somberwald Sage

Mana dork, that's all.

Zhur-Taa Druid

Nice mana dork that adds or . And also pings, which is useful.

Acidic Slime

A versatile removal creature.

Cindervines

A potent noncreature hate card that punishes opponents for playing noncreature spells and decks (which, as you know is a theme in this deck).

Kogla, the Titan Ape

A nice creature that can sometimes be a win-con.

Ravager Wurm

A handy land/creature removal, that can certainly hold its own in combat.

Sunder Shaman

Don't underestimate this extremely powerful card.

Terastodon

A great creature to ramp into and can certainly win games singlehandedly.

Fauna Shaman

An absolute beast of a card in this deck. Tutors any creature cards you want.

Fierce Empath

A potent tutor.

Natural Order

Llanowar Elves -> Craterhoof Behemoth = Awesome

Sakura-Tribe Elder

Hope you enjoyed the primer! Feedback is greatly appreciated!

Until next time!
