Added a Cavern of Souls

X --> Phoebe

chrysaries, 6 years ago

X ended up closing one player basically out of the game because of his ability to cast cards at instant speed during the controlled players draw step, i.e. if they had no cards in hand, I could basically make sure they never had ever again. It ended up being more akin to Infect: screwing over one player and then get run over by the others.

Thran Dynamo / Estrid's Invocation

Cyclonic Rift / Swiftfoot Boots nerf

/ Torpor Orb Unstable commanders only

Peek / Mystic Remora

Nevinyrral's Disk / Decree of Pain

Playtests

Captainnotorious, 6 years ago

After a few play-tests I found I was often left with too many Naturalize and Gaea's Blessing in my hand. I swapped out one of each to bring in 2 Fountain of Renewal. I also felt there was too many lands so I swapped one of each Forest and Plains for 1 Famished Paladin and a third Fountain of Renewal

CHANGED IONA FOR BLINDING ANGEL

Exe928, 6 years ago

Blinding Angel seems like an awesome resource to control aggressive decks, and Iona is too risky to have in the deck anyway.

Pretty strong again [minus one no-land game]

Olive_pdx, 6 years ago

Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper did great tonight, although I couldn't draw a land to save my life in the first game. Pitched the first hand, took 4 cards in the 2nd [we do partials] and only had 1 land for 6 turns. I scooped that game. The 2nd game was much better, getting value and playing well! I want to play a few more games before i make any more changes, I feel it's good as is for the time being. I can see I may need some more finishers but I don't want to screw it all up.

Experimentation

lilyhaaron, 6 years ago

In: Mishra's Self-Replicator

Out: Boompile

I just haven't been happy with boompile, and I want to see how Mishra's functions in this deck.

Testing out something

lilyhaaron, 6 years ago

In: Metamorphic Alteration

Out: Abzan Runemark

Testing out Metamorphic Alteration as a means of tutorable answer to threats or to get a beefy thing myself.

Couple failed experiments

lilyhaaron, 6 years ago

In: Lena, Selfless Champion and Sin Collector

Out: Midnight Scavengers  Meld and Ulvenwald Tracker

Was trying out scavengers and just wasn't good. Tracker ended up being mediocre most of the time since my guys often aren't the largest.

Small Updates

lilyhaaron, 6 years ago

in: Anax and Cymede and Suspicious Bookcase

Out: Citadel Siege and Weaver of Lightning

A big overhaul of this decks ramp is coming soon, but here's just a couple changes that better suit this decks gameplan.

Deck tweaks

we_are_Lilith, 6 years ago

So, gonna list the changes and then go though some of the thoughts behind em'.

Cuts:

Adds:

I don't think its better, in fact its prolly worse, but I've come to prefer Tooth and Nail over Weird Harvest. This will be a common theme with this 'update'.

So let's get to the second one that's a definite downgrade, replacing Umbral Mantle with Great Oak Guardian. They fill the same role, create infinite mana, but GOG requires an additional piece (Sabertooth or Cloudstone Curio).
Main reason for this change: I found Umbral Mantle extremely boring. I usually don't mind these combos, hell, I play several Kiki decks, but this one just... felt bad.

Karametra's Acolyte is here as another mass producing dork, she does that well, real well. Vines of Vastwood gave way for this. Cutting the protection might be a bad idea, but Vines was often a dead card and so far I haven't missed it.

KailDaemon got me intrigued with his Aetherflux Reservoir testing, so I decided to try it aswell. I don't think it's all that effective, but its real fun, and I have won some games with it that would have been lost otherwise, simply due to the continuous life gain.
Cloudstone Curio was also added to make the storm lines more reliable and just as another copy of Sabertooth. Tireless Tracker and Whisperwood Elemental gave way for this, I can't really say I've missed them much.

Now, some lands! I got a Championship Gaea's Cradle for fairly cheap, so its going in! Reliquary Tower is also going in because sometimes you draw 20 cards and run out of mana, so being able to Crop Rotate for it might be useful, hasn't so far though.

Voyaging Satyr is also going in since it can produce a bunch of mana with either Cradle of Nykthos. I cut three forests for the two new lands and Satyr, and its worked out great.

Quick swap

In: Grow from the Ashes

Out: Dromoka Monument

Got a lot of cards coming into this deck soon, but just a small switch.

Tournament

SandwichMan007, 6 years ago

I will be attending my first semi-competitive tournament tomorrow night. I have no idea what the meta here is like so I revamped my mainboard with whatever better cards I had lying around. I recently switched Thieves' Fortune out for Supreme Will and am working in space for Bow of Nylea due to pretty great success in casual playing. I'll make sure to leave an update on my results of tomorrow night within the week.
