Hi everyone! This is my day one pass at Esper Control in Pioneer. Obviously a lot of this is build on speculation, along with general feeling for the deck from about 10 playtest games.

Based around the power of Approach of the Second Sun + Dig Through Time / Azcanta, the Sunken Ruin . Teferi, Time Raveler + Supreme Verdict is an instant speed uncounterable sweeper. Search for Azcanta   helps fill the graveyard to enable our Dig Through Time . Torrential Gearhulk gives us a powerful body and a Dig Through Time /Removal spell split card with our primarily instant speed suit of answers.

Notably, there is no Planeswalker removal for Oko, Thief of Crowns , The Royal Scions , Liliana, the Last Hope , and Chandra, Torch of Defiance , among potentaily others. This might need changed to play around as the format develops, and including cards like Hero's Downfall , Murderous Rider , or Vraska's Contempt as flexible answers would allow us to deal with those, at the cost of speed against aggressive decks like Ramunap Red, which seem powerful on first glance. Murderous Rider in particular might be interesting as an answer/lifelinker split card.

Another potential change would be including Temple of Epiphany and/or Temple of Deceit , as well as Field of Ruin , especially if Field of the Dead turns out to be particularly powerful in this format that we know nothing about. Currently, Since I'm hedging mono-red, and so I value the ability to more consistently cast Bile Blight on turn 2 (but I haven't done the math yet!).

Notable choices: Disfigure over Fatal Push : No fetchlands makes me worried that fatal push is too often not hitting its second mode, and with indestructible creatures like Adanto Vanguard lying around, I'm not convinced, but this could easily change. Potentially if trying a build with Fabled Passage and Field of Ruin , then Fatal Push would be enough.

Thought Erasure over Thoughtsieze: This lets us not worry about having black mana on turn 1 and happily play tapped lands. The life loss doesn't seem trivial in this format either. Thought Erasure also helps us to fuel Search for Azcanta  , Dig Through Time and Torrential Gearhulk . This format also isn't full of modern being modern without Mox Opal , so turn 1 seems less important.

The sideboard is a mess of cards that seem... fine?
