What is your pet tech card?

For me, I run Shinen of Life's Roar in every green deck I can at the moment. I have like 3-4 copies in foil now.

The ability to throw out alliances, force removal or bad blocks, or let someone go for a kill or huge attack is brutal. Especially with how prevalent the Monarch is in my current meta, and the common "can I attack you with my 1/1 to get the monarch" deals being made.

Hmmm, I'm thinking Rogue's Passage for me. I guess that could be too obvious to some but I don't see all that many people actually running it in a lot of lists. It wins me soooo many games. Or at least lets me knock 1 opponent out of a game. The number of times folks are just hovering around ~8 life or less for multiple turns is silly.

I like Skyblinder Staff, which goes in all my flying decks, which is probably most of them. My current favorite card to slot into decks is Zirda, the Dawnwaker to discount ability costs. And my favorite "Gotcha" card is Spirit en-Dal, repeatable - essentially unblockable - for 2 mana.

And I agree with DrukenReaps, Rogue's Passage makes the cut in any deck I can find a copy to put in it, and has won me some clutch games.

Man, I love this question. Sometimes I wish I was less competitive so I could play more pet cards...

Scavenger Grounds is not by any means unknown, but it's one of the few cards that I put in all of my decks. GY hate is so important, but I feel bad taking a "real" card slot up for a RIP or other.

Broken Wings i want to run Naturalize effects in my decks but its offten hard to justify something that might end up being a dead card some games. This thing is an overachiever imo. It's as close to a mono green Utter End or VindicateI ever want to see

I run Bojuka Bog in any deck that I can. Graveyard's have been easily assessible with each passing set, making it a must run to me

Not so much a card as an effect, but instant speed "creatures lose all abilities"--Sudden Spoiling, Dress Down, and Polymorphist's Jest. It shuts down a lot of creature-based win condition if you can prepare, without making yourself the archenemy like Humility. Thassa's Oracle can still be a problem, but I don't see it that much.

I don't have it in every deck but I love Phyrexian Splicer. Terrible card? Perhaps. But it's my terrible card. I just want to borrow your keywords :)

Imp's Mischief - Redirect targeted... removal, draw, extra turns and counterspells all for 2 mana? The ability to bluff is powerful. There is a reason once Tegrid came out it shot up in price. Cards that break that break the color pie are usually powerful for a reason

I've gone out of my way to get a few dragons and Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury in multiple decks. Dragons are usually good, they're usually getting through, and even a modest +2 pump on all your creatures can make a difference.

Primal Order when your meta is greedy 3-5 color decks, this card does massive damage.

Meltdown and Seeds of Innocence in decks that don't run many artifacts. Like an Armageddon for broken fast artifact mana and/or many treasures.

I love to run Orim's Chant whenever I can. It's super helpful in stopping a combo or saving you from losing, and can even stop an opponent from interfering during your own turn.

Berserk. use it when opponent A attacks opponent B with a huge creature. opponent B takes a ton of damage, opponent A loses a big creature. 2 birds, 1 stone.

Imp's Mischief. If my deck runs black you can be guaranteed this card is in it.

Quicksilver Amulet for me. I love my big beefy creatures, and I love paying 4 for them. It's helped me more times than I can count - I have THE worst luck being mana screwed. Court of Bounty is in many of my decks for the same reason.

Infiltration Lens.

For each creature blocking it you draw 2 cards so if the creature has menace you draw 4 cards or if you play Shinen of Life's Roar and attach Infiltration Lens to it you'll draw tons of cards.

Shout out to libraryjoy because Spirit en-Dal is also one of my pet cards

shadow63 Price. I'm really cheap (usually spend no more than $10-15 in new cards to build any deck, casual or commander), and those are a bit expensive for me to have enough copies to go in the many decks I run (8 or so commander decks at any given time and 20+ casual decks). While not all of them use it, I still probably own 12+ copies of Skyblinder Staff, all of which are in use. The other 2 are a bit pricey these days. I have a few copies of Cloak and Helm that are always in decks. I do also use Executioner's Hood as another budget option. I like a lot of variety when I play, and also occasionally lend decks to other players.

Jokulhaups. I love destroying everything and then winning that turn or the next.

Otherwise, Hall of Gemstone in every mono green deck and Dystopia in every black deck. Sometimes they whiff but rarely and when they work, THEY WORK.

August 25, 2021 12:29 p.m.

I run Misery Charm in a Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons deck. Also Blustersquall helps a budget aggro deck running blue.

August 26, 2021 9:20 a.m.

Tower of the Magistrate is the one I always stuff in it my deck isn't too colour greedy, that I don't see others pay often.

Voltron player: "Equip Worldslayer."

Me: "Don't worry, Zurgo Helmsmasher! I'll protect you from that big, scary sword!"

I like to build decks with sacrifice/graveyard recursion strategies, so Mimic Vat tends to wind up in a lot of my initial builds.

I also really like including Domineering Will in decks. It's really versatile in how it can be used. It can completely mess with an opponent's combat calculations after they attack, if you have something that gives your creatures haste then Domineering Will snags the 3 best creatures your opponents control for you to attack with on your turn, and if you have a free sacrifice outlet Domineering Will basically lets you kill the 3 most threatening creatures on the board at instant speed for only 4 mana.

The best home for both cards that I currently have is my Grimgrin deck.

Emeria Shepherd. I love recursion engines, and this is one I find myself running in any deck with white. I typically have a suite of cards to support it, but landfall support is hardly a bad thing.

Perilous Myr-for no reason other than I think the card is really strong and very underrated especially in aristocrat decks

I like to run at least one Spellshaper in new or budget decks as a way to filter out dead draws/late game basics. I've got a couple binder pages worth of them, and theres enough variety in their abilites that they synergise with most decks I build.

I have too many "pet tech cards" to list, but two in particular are Mirari's Wake and Privileged Position, because those cards are simply too amazing not not use in ever deck with their colors.

Personally, Reins of Power. I run it in my Jhoira of the Ghitu deck.

The perfect card to fend off an attack, as when a creature changes controller, it's removed from combat: simply cast it during combat.

Are you losing because your opponent has a scary board or a big unblockable untargetable lethal voltron commander? Kill them with their creatures. This is especially aggravating if you control little to no creatures, like after a onesided boardwipe (looking at Cyclonic Rift and similar).

Your opponent has a creature based infinite mana loop (like with Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle) and you need that infinite mana at instant speed? Go for it. Just before the end step, be sure to sacrifice their creatures to a sacrifice outlet, if you got any. Just to be grateful.

Do you want to collaborate with one of your opponents? Team up with somebody and make your board attack in your teammate's turn.

The card's versatile, with style.

I forgot about Throes of Chaos its in all the mono and two color red decks im running at the moment. An excellent way to hit utility cards, removal and mana rocks. Absolutly nuts in Goblins and decks that use affinity. If you build your deck in the way Boros players do with Sunforger it can be really rewarding. Heck run them in the same deck.
