I'm a Timmy, but I like to pretend sometimes that I'm a Johnny.

I don't like to create EDHREC copypasta throwup. Sure, I create decks like Basic B!&$# Akiri Voltron. But for each deck I make like that, there's a dozen decks like Yarok, But With Ninjas, and Fling Squee and Amass With Kenrith. In other words, I like to take a commander, figure out some kind of gimmicky shit for it to synergize with, and build. Typical hipster, I guess. Always want to be different.

So I look at Wolfgar of Icewind Dale, and my thought process goes:

• 1) Why don't I see a lot more of these decks?

• 2) There are soooooo many attack triggers in Gruul.

• 3) This shit's gotta be all over EDHREC and mtggoldfish and whatever the hell else.

• 4) I bet that I could come up with the best build for this guy, without looking at anything online. Dude builds himself.

• 5) That would be boring.

• 6) I think I'll make rice and beans with kale and avocado for dinner tonight.

• 7) ???

• 8) I'm gonna build Wolfgar in a Goblin tribal deck.

There are a lot of much more effective ways to build Wolfgar, for certain. But this is what I want to do.

So I looked it up, and there are 31 goblins with attack triggers (well, 33 if you include un-sets, which I don't). One of them is black, and one other one is Mardu. Not all of the remaining 29 are good enough to use (ok, so, Goblin Champion is awesome, but not right for this deck). However, there's still plenty enough to justify building the deck.

There are also Goblins that have combat damage triggers, which feeds the same theme, as well as plenty of artifacts and enchantments that would be in any good Wulfgar deck anyway. So, then, why the hell not?? Throw in a splash of extra combat phases, and here it is. In all it's janky glory.
