Creature — Goblin

Provoke (When this attacks, you may have target creature defending player controls untap and block it if able.)

My personal cuts would be:

  • Bloodthirster because I don't like mixing MTG with other IPs

  • Goblin Grappler because I think you have one or two too many of the Lure type effects and this one seems the weakest

  • Berserker's Frenzy as well, partially because I don't like die rolling

  • Sardian Avenger because while it could be great... it could also just be a 1/1

  • One land. You have 35, but you also have a couple of the ZNR MDFC ones and Dowsing Dagger  Flip. That brings the total up to 39, which is a bit high. The Dagger requires damage to become a land and the MDFC ones always come in tapped so I think just cutting one regular land would be enough.

  • Chandra's Ignition and Momentous Fall are both great cards and I feel like they the definitely have potential here but I think the cost is a bit high for them. You'd probably want more free effects like Greater Good rather the Momentous Fall so you could play stuff out before combat and not have to worry about saving enough mana for later in the turn

These are just the cuts I would personally make. If any of my reasonings seem unhelpful, please ignore them! Build the deck in whatever way works the best for you! (I'm also not the greatest at making cuts lol)

Hey! Great deck! I'm looking to build a similar Ib deck, and was surprised that you have almost no goblin token generators (excluding Krenko, Mob Boss/Beetleback Chief/Goblin Goliath). Are you creating tokens by tutoring for Krenko most of the time? I was thinking this would need a bit of a token swarm to be threatening. Any thoughts there? Thanks!

Also, I've added Squee, the Immortal, Squee, Goblin Nabob, and Goblin Grappler for good wannabe bombers :)

Interesting, I like your budget approach...but trying to keep cards under 30 cents is tough haha. Also, I think this deck may struggle to do enough damage in a commander game as ping effects generally don't do much in the format unless Vhati il-Dal is involved.

However, here are some suggestions I found. Stab Wound would be a good additional creature shrinker (for later ping-ing) and incremental life loss.

Since you run a lot of enchantments which punish opponents for blocking, the "Provoke" mechanic may interest you. Cards like Crested Craghorn or Goblin Grappler are options if you can keep them alive (sadly provoke is mainly a green mechanic). Breaker of Armies and Nemesis Mask also have similar effects.

Or you could look for further tap/untap permanents type cards. Endbringer is an option though it would require some more colorless mana (Wastes are cheap), it also is 50 cents. Goblin Archaeologist could provide more artifact removal. Puppet Strings will alow you to tap or untap at will.

I think your deck may want some sort of reanimation to it as that is what black does best, and I suspect your little guys will die rather frequently. Phyrexian Reclamation would be a nice addition to provide a pit of reanimation though it is 50 cents. Betrayal of Flesh doubles as removal and reanimation at instant speed.

Curse of Death's Hold would make pinging stuff to death easier, but again, it is 50 cents.

Not a problem, hope these suggestions work out well for you! Good call on the lords, you should protect them. Krenko and Boggart Mob are crazy, for sure. Good luck deciding which cards to keep and which to cut!

As far as Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician and influencing your opponents' choice in blocking goes, there are a few cards that can help. Invasion Plans gets all of your attackers blocked, and in the exact manner you want (preserving your lords if they attack), but your opponents can choose a very bad blocking arrangement for you when they attack (especially if they want to kill off one or more of the lords), so maybe that isn't the best card. Melee allows you to completely decide how your opponents will block, but any unblocked creatures deal no damage, so this is great if Ib Halfheart is out, but not if you want to hit your opponents directly. Raging River and Stand or Fall divide up who can block, but you don't get to decide who does block. Retreat to Valakut lets you eliminate some blockers, but I suspect this isn't what you want with Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician. Goblin War Cry and Eunuchs' Intrigues make it so that one of your opponents can only block with one creature, and so they may feel blackmailed into blocking one of the goblins. I'm not sure if any of these do what you want them to. The keyword Provoke would be useful in this context, but it's only one one goblin, Goblin Grappler, so not super great for a combo with Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician.

Haha well since almost half of the creatures on Kamigawa were spirits, I think some of them would have to give up flying to finding better evolutionary niches and so forth. I'm not sure the exact reason behind many of the Kamigawa spirits being earthbound, though.

Happy deck building!
