Serpent Generator Discussion

Kogarashi on How does infect interact with …

Virulent Sliver, Triumph of the Hordes

There's also the difference in that Infect changes how a creature deals damage, while Poisonous is a triggered ability (where the trigger is the creature dealing damage).

If you read the reminder text on both cards, you'll note that the damaged player is receiving poison counters from both abilities, regardless of the name of the ability. "Infect counters" aren't actually a thing, it's just a shorthand some players use to refer to either type of counter placed due to Infect damage.

"Poisonous" as an ability is just a reflection of an older creature ability to give a player poison counters if a specific condition was met (dealing damage to that player, not being blocked, etc.), as seen on cards like Serpent Generator, Pit Scorpion, and Swamp Mosquito. Future Sight gave WotC a chance to give it a proper keyword on a future-shifted card.

It all depends on who you're using as the commander. If you're using Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons you'll really want to focus it down. Are you looking for the -1/-1 counter part of it or the 1/1 snake tokens? Hapatra can go off very quickly with snakes.

Orochi Hatchery , Sosuke's Summons , Snake Pit , Serpent Generator are all good cards, even if the last one has a high cmc.
- ( Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons or Flourishing Defenses ) + Devoted Druid + ( Ivy Lane Denizen or ( Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + ( Swiftfoot Boots or Lightning Greaves )))= Infinite Mana + Infinite Deathtouch Snakes -( Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons or Flourishing Defenses ) + Cinderhaze Wretch + ( Ivy Lane Denizen or ( Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + ( Swiftfoot Boots or Lightning Greaves ))) = Infinitely Discard Opponents (during your turn) + Infinite Deathtouch Snakes - Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Woodfall Primus + Ashnod's Altar = Destroy all noncreature permanents + Infinite Mana -( Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons or Flourishing Defenses or Nest of Scarabs ) + Grim Poppet + Sculpting Steel = Infinite Tokens -( Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons or Flourishing Defenses or Nest of Scarabs ) + Blowfly Infestation = Infinite tokens entering and dying. NOTE: This needs to be used in conjunction with something else such as Blood Artist , Zulaport Cutthroat , or just another one of the cards listed above.

I'm missing some good pump to your creatures: Beastmaster Ascension is a total beast for only 3 mana, Curse of Predation, Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest, Forgotten Ancient, Bloodspore Thrinax would work great because you can proliferate your +1/+1 counters. Overrun and Thunderfoot Baloth may also be good.
You can always surprise your oponent with Might of Oaks or cast Revenge of the Hunted on Glissa and you'll wipe somenes creatures while your infect creatures go unblocked, Enlarge can also work fine.
Lightning Greaves and Swiftfoot Boots are always amazing to protect Glissa and give your guys haste.
Equipment like Loxodon Warhammer, Sword of Vengeance and Whispersilk Cloak can also be helpful. Also, the more I use Key to the City, the more I like it.
Viridian Longbow to kill creatures with glissa's deathtouch or ping poison counters to your oponents with any of your infect guys.I know Glissa will be feeding you cards, but I'd run some card engines just in case Deathreap Ritual, Shamanic Revelation, Journey to Eternity  Flip. actually yhere are a lot.
Semblance Anvil can be quite cool here if you imprint one of your artifact creatures.

I'd cut:
Artisan of Kozilek for being to high cost and not really worth it that much in this deck.
Worldspine Wurm because it's basically unplayable unless you can consistently cheat it onto the battlefield.
Marsh Casualties and Curse of Death's Hold not effective enough in a multiplayer game where people use bigger creatures. You can ruin the game for some token player, but you have more important things to do with those card slots.
Grave Betrayal Powerful, but it doesn't really move your game forward. You'll have is stuck in you hand more often than not.
Serpent Generator 10 mana for the first 1/1 snake with no-infect. Ho'w do you plan to make those snakes go unblocked.I'd swap Mutilate some boardwipe that actually destroys the creatures, you may not have many swamps and most of your creatures are small so you would be killing your guys while sparing your opponents'. Best option is Damnation, the budget alternatives are Crux of Fate, Deadly Tempest and Extinguish All Hope to name a few.

If you cut the highest cost from the deck you could probably do with about 37 lands, maybe even fewer. You may want to add some dual lands

Happy brewing!

Hello! Really great deck concept. I really like your inclusion of Trostani, Selesnya's Voice and Cryptolith Rite to take advantage of masses of tokens.

For even more tokens, I really like Nuisance Engine and Serpent Generator. To gain life for your tokens: Anointer Priest.I'd also take advantage of some of the curses, as they can have pretty devastating effects if you're going to be turning all your tokens sideways. For example, Curse of Bounty or Curse of the Forsaken come to mind.

You can also use Eerie Interlude to protect your tokens from board wipes.

Wolfrage I chose Cutthroat over Blood Artist because I just happen to have it, I'll add in Blood Artist too, for redundancy. :p

Serpent Generator seems pretty nifty, I dunno how I feel about the steep cost.. unless someone says whether it's a good inclusion or a bad inclusion. Honestly I don't like the fact it costs 10 man and to play and activate, at that rate I'd rather use Primal Surge.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Serpent Generator - note it doesn't say "combat" damage... :D

Also, any reason why you went with Zulaport Cutthroat over Blood Artist? Just because of the "each", I assume?

Thanks! I thought about putting in Darksteel Colossus as a big baddie. Drana, Liberator of Malakir is an awesome idea! Really liking Dread as well.

Serpent Generator is in there to just get out poisonous creatures and work to feeding Throne of Geth. It's not imperative, but it's a good addition. I was thinking of putting in Thran Dynamo, Sol Ring, and Gilded Lotus in as Mana rocks.Throne of Geth is in there because I have a lot of artifact and artifact creatures to sac for it's ability to Proliferate in the event I'm not getting Contagion Clasp or Contagion Engine
