When Hell is Full... (Gisa Ghoulcaller)

Commander / EDH Combo Infinite Combo Mono-Black Zombie

Akki0

This deck is pure death, a lot of creatureremoval combined with Gisa who can summon a huge horde of undead. Keep crashing wave after wave into the defenses of players and see them succumb to the horde that these zombies represent. It's not uncommon to recover 10 Zombies per turn as the main focus of the deck is to overwhelm the opponent with loads of zombies.

Why Gisa, Ghoulcaller? Why not Gisa and Geralf?

Ever since I saw Gisa I knew I wanted to build the zombie horde deck, I loved the movies of a few survivors against a mass of zombies before them and she comes closest to recreating that in MTG by her ability. Gisa and Geralf get more praise but it's a whole different deck from what I'm trying to do. That being said I have tried to build the deck to be able to function without her as she's a very slow commander who everyone can see coming a mile away (kinda like a zombie!)

Strategy

The deck's first route to victory is to create as many zombies as possible and overwhelm the opponent, you can do this either by saccing cheap but high power creatures such as Abyssal Persecutor or go zombies tribal and sac zombie fodder backed up by anthems such as Risen Executioner . The several zombie lords make your horde into a powerfull force, attack and then sac the zombie that gets blocked to get even more zombies!

Want even more zombies? We got you covered by either doing it twice Thousand-Year Elixir , Umbral Mantle and Thornbite Staff OR saccing an even larger token by equipping Stoneforge Masterwork or Lashwrithe Note some people prefer Nightmare Lash but I find the Lashwrithe much superior because of the germ token and flexibility in equipcost.

Drop a Coat of Arms or Eldrazi Monument and swing for the fences with your horde. Just remember to use Gisa's ability when getting an unfavorable block so you can get more value out of the combat or use it at the end of you're last opponents turn to get the best value.

Notable Synergies

Mimic Vat is awesome in the deck for several reasons, it creatures threaths by stealing big creatures who can attack and then be used as fodder for Gisa or one of my favorites, use a tutor creature such as Rune-Scarred Demon or Sidisi, Undead Vizier to get the answer you need to a certain situation.

Lashwrithe and Mutilate can cause a boardwipe where you keep you're best creature.

Swamp into Sol Ring into Leaden Myr or Charcoal Diamond can make for a turn 2 Gisa! Just hope you have a fatty in hand to sac for value then.

Reaper from the Abyss is an allstar for removal when using a sac engine, sac a zombie to a Phyrexian Altar or Ashnod's Altar and watch the board dwindle, combine with Overseer of the Damned to get the zombie right back!

What if that doesn't work?

The deck features a few combo's to go infinite as well as way to push through a stalemate with or without Gisa:

These are just a few ways to go infinite but in the end of the day the deck wants to create a George Romero movie like mass of zombies and go to town.

Let me know what you think and if I missed any glaring ommissions
