Commander: Averna, the Chaos Bloom

This commander is everything I love about magic: big splashy spells, ramp, and chaos.

Cascade is a cool mechanic, but it's not a means to win. The strategy of this deck is to go wide, pump your creatures with Overrun and other cards like it and smash face. The deck is relatively slow, but I treid to make up for it by including lots of big 4 CMC ramp spells which can net you three lands per cascade trigger. This obviously means that landfall is an integral part of this deck. Moraug, Fury of Akoum is great value in a go-wide-strategy, while Omnath, Locus of Rage, Scute Swarm and Zendikar's Roil ensure your board is as wide as possible. I don't have any counterspells other than Forceful Denial, since cascading into one would be waste of a card, with the only legal target being your own spell. There's not a lot of removal for the same reason. Manaplasm seems to be an odd card in this deck, but it usually becomes huge every turn due to the cascade triggers. In combination with overrun-effects it can easily win you the game, since the cast trigger resolves before the actual spell resolves, making Manaplasm a 6/6 at least.

Best cards in the deck: - Moraug, Fury of Akoum - Imoti, Celebrant of Bounty - Apex Devastator - Maelstrom Wanderer
