This deck has been a true dream of mine, and now that I have the money for it - I'm going to purchase it. I wanted to get a Mishra's Workshop, but the $6-700 dollar price tag is quite a turn off. Nearly tripling the cost of this deck is not something I'm willing to do. So please don't suggest it. Before commenting, please read most of this description, it may answer your questions. Thanks so much.
That being said - this deck has a limited mana base, a low mana count for an artifact deck. There is a TERRIFIC reason for such things. Infinite mana combos, price reduction and mana-producing creatures make this deck full of "wow! that's cool" moments. The basis of this deck have to do with Master Transmuter and Hanna, Ship's Navigator. These two cards are powerful artifact manipulation. With Arcum Dagsson, sacrificing artifacts, and returning them ain't no thang.
Infinite combos go something like this:
Infinite Mana is a must in most competitive Commander/EDH decks, here is mine:Summoning Station+Krark-Clan Ironworks or Ashnod's Altar. This is the stereotypical artifact-based infinite mana that almost EVERYONE is utilizing right now. So ask why is this in such a revolutionary, original deck? Simple. It's necessary. Mana is necessary in all decks, especially artifact decks and once I have infinite mana in my account, my other infinite combinations will work flawlessly.
Infinite Mill? This is able to be taken out, but against any type of slow moving deck like beat-down green, vampires, or any color combination, such as Izzet or Jaskai. Typically EDH/Commander decks with a color combination that don't run a "reanimate" them - or pull them back from the graveyard. My mill combination is simple, yet effective. Summoning Station+Grinding Station. Put a token. Sacrifice. Mill. Token. Sacrifice. Mill. It's so anticlimactic, but effective more than many other combinations. Why? It's simple. Two cards. So easy.
Near Infinite Land Search. This isn't very necessary in this deck, as you can see above with infinite mana combos, but I put it in here, because the mechanics is SO much fun. The complexity of this combination is something to be marveled. Start off with Master Transmuter. She is the genius behind all of this. You need a 0 cost artifact. My deck has included multiple ones: Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere. In the presence of an Amulet of Vigor, the use of a Fieldmist Borderpost may be most strategic. Once these are in place, all that you need is an Intruder Alarm and finally, a sad bot: Solemn Simulacrum.
The mechanic works this way: play Master Transmuter. Tap Fieldmist Borderpost for U, and return any of the 0 cost artifacts to hand. Put the sad bot, Solemn Simulacrum on the battle field and trigger: "Whenever this creature enters.. Search for land.. Battlefield (tapped)." Because of our Amulet of Vigor the land enters untapped, and because of sad bot's entering the battlefield, Master Transmuter untaps. Now you can theoretically only do this up to 18 times (I only have 18 islands). But what if I had a Silver Myr on the battlefield? Get all 29 lands out in one turn. As soon as turn 4.
Infinite Life Gain is not necessarily desired all the time in EDH/Commander because there are many cards that are able to alter that quickly. Sorin Markov, for instance, turns anyone's life down to 10 instantly. Or even Heartless Hidetsugu, half of one's life total. Nonetheless, life gain is fun, easy, and when done right OVERLY impressive. The mechanics work as such:
We start with our lovely Master Transmuter, the true angel of this deck (sorry, Hanna). With the favored Enchantment Angelic Chorus, we are able to gain loads and loads of life in the following manor. Any 0 cost artifact, as mentioned above are, Memnite, Ornithopter, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, a Silver Myr, and an Intruder Alarm. With the help of one of my favorite cards, you gain 11 life every single time you "bounce" it: Inkwell Leviathan. Tap your Silver Myr, return Memnite, put in Inkwell Leviathan, gain 11 life, uncap Master Transmuter. Repeat? Forever. And ever. And maybe ever, again.
Infinite Card Draw. Not reserved for only Azami, Lady of Scrolls, is it now? Typically Sensei's Divining Top is the trademark artifact for this sort of thing. However! Even in an artifact deck, I've found a way around it that, without the 25 dollar price, make this awesome. Here is the basis: 0 cost artifact, Sage of Lat-Nam, Hanna, Ship's Navigator, Heartstone or Training Grounds, one Silver Myr and one Gold Myr, the necessary intruder alarm, and the typical Laboratory Maniac.
Here's how it works: Have your 0 cost artifact, let's take a Ornithopter. Tap Sage of Lat-Nam and sac Ornithopter to draw one card. Now to get it back. Sun myr, Silver Myr and either Heartstone or Training Grounds and tap Hanna, Ship's Navigator to return Ornithopter to your hand. It costs 0, so why not cast it again? Now is where the fun begins, Everyone untaps and you start all over again.
It's taken me now more than 2 months to build this deck to near perfection, near being it. Any suggestions, besides Mishra's Workshop, because that'll never happen, is not only encouraged by Tapped Out Deck Builder, but out of my sincere desire for a perfect deck, I ask for your kind words. All-in-all if you don't like the deck, that's okay; I understand that you're not the fun type of Magic: The Gathering Player. If you like (or love, maybe) the deck, the infinite combinations or even just the name, I would love if you'd throw me a +1 rating.
Thanks, everyone
