I wanted to try and make a modern deck, and Griselbrand's Glass Cannon was the first modern deck-type I was attracted to. That was back in 2013 and as of October 9th, 2013 I finished the first build of this deck. The decks, at the time, I used to get a better idea of what I was doing were the popular Glass Cannon Vengeance (Turn 1 Win) (which has gone through some changes now), and Grisel Cannon (turn 1 win) (gets updated/changed semi-regularly). Then, I did a bunch of research and testing and then made my own iteration which is a far cry from where I started. I've tried several different kinds of builds as responses to the meta and have hour and hours of experience under my belt at this point.

If you like some of the ideas here there are plenty of different builds to be able to try.

* N E W * (mine, and pretty budget) Streamer BrewSpyTheMagicGuy came up with the idea for using Iname and getting back Bloodghasts, he went in a direction of an Esper deck, and I wanted to do full on combo, so when Torgaar, Famine Incarnite came out I decided it was possible, there are other pretty strong midrange ideas but the entire deck is graveyard based.

* N E W * (mine, primer, and budget) This is a midrange Junk (abzan) Unburial Rites deck based more on using Woodfall Primus and Footsteps of the Goryo, which usually destroys 2 lands while keeping around a 5/5 trampler.

Opening Hand

In your opening seven cards, you want to try and have at least some combination of, two sources of mana, two draw/loot spells, and two pieces for a combo, which leaves you with a 'choice' card slot. This is generally an optimum hand as it isn't extremely weak to hand hate, or counter magic, and when you're denied you can stabilize.

This deck can mulligan as far down as 5, and still have an solid start. Vancouver Mulligans did have an impact on the strength of the start of the game, being able to Scry 1, after mulligans.

Drawing Cards and
Sculpting your Hand

Simply keeping up and constantly drawing cards from the library is usually a good idea as it gives more chances to go-off and safer. Sometimes you may want to consider attempting to go-off faster when you have to deal with Tax effects from Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, and open one-drop removal like Path to Exile. Generally common Blue and White strategies are things you have to play around, right now Meddling Mage and Reflector Mage are insanely disruptive if you're trying to Breach for a later game. If your meta is heavy on humans, consider side-boarding some Apostle's Blessing instead.

Winning with Finesse

Sideboard Strats

THIS PART IS CURRENTLY BEING REWRITTEN, but I wanted you to be able to see what other things I may have been using in the past.

Abrupt Decay -- Against decks that tend to have some protective control magic, but play more mana efficient threats, like Tarmogoyf. It's Green and can be pitched to Nourishing Shoal.

Firespout -- Against aggro decks, or decks that play a few creatures that they may need. This could be Anger of the Gods but it's Red and Green so if we go fast enough it can be pitched to Fury of the Horde or Nourishing Shoal on the fly.

Izzet Charm -- This is my 'open' slot right now, as a charm it can give me three different options, this can be against control, or tempo. It can protect when going off, burn a low-toughness threat, or help the deck dig. It's also Red to pitch to Fury of the Horde.

Leyline of Sanctity -- When a deck like 8-Rack or Burn wants to target you all the time, these can be the reason you decide to mulligan down to five.

Pact of Negation -- Just another to increase the draw of counter magic when you think you can win the game on combo, maybe against a tempo deck.

Ricochet Trap -- Against the staunch control decks immediately being able to stop Remand can be the difference in a game, and it's red, so I hope you know what what that means by now.

Snapcaster Mage -- More of a catch-all really, this could be Noxious Revival as well, but I prefer being able to try and cast right away, and not wait for a draw. Keeping in mind “10/1/2012: You can't pay other alternative costs of a card you're casting from your graveyard using flashback. For example, if the instant or sorcery has an overload cost, you can't pay that cost.”

Spell Pierce -- More mana efficient counter magic, against tempo or even Planeswalkers you don't think you can deal with.

Thoughtseize -- When you want to be the one that starts peeling cards from your opponent, before they start peeling from you, almost like preemptive counter magic. Otherwise if Cabal Therapy was legal.... well lets hope that never happens.
