Kill, Kill and Kill some more.

Sarevok… Only played Baldur's Gate III so I only really know this guy as a crazy cultist side boss. Well, being a cultist suits him anyway.

So, what’s the goal of the deck? Killing, mostly.

Okay, so, Sarevok + cultist of the absolute? Something has to die each turn. Better it be something we can bring back.

So, what does that?

Gravecrawler is the most mana efficient, but requires a zombie on your field. Not a massive ask, but it can be an issue sometimes.

Bloodsoaked Champion and Reassembling Skeleton do it for 2 mana, though you need to attack first for Champion to work.

And Haunt of the Dead Marshes for 3, if you have a legendary, but it’s commander so… You’ll have a legendary.

Ebondeath, Dracolich is the most expensive option here, mana wise. But… Well… Honestly, he’s mostly here because he’s a big dragon, who is also a zombie, which means useful synergies.

And finally, Palace Siege, stack the triggers and return the thing you sac to cultist to your hand.

There’s also Victimize, Room 2 of Funeral Room / Awakening Hall and Whip of Erebos for one-time recursion.

If we don’t want to keep pulling something out of the graveyard, we’ll want something that’ll give us something to give to cultist.

Bitterblossom, Black Market Connections, Dreadhorde Invasion do so passively. Though BMC is on main step, so if you don’t have the shapeshifter before upkeep… bye bye Sarevok.

Liliana, Dreadhorde General gives you a zombie with her +1, Death-Priest of Myrkul gives you a skeleton for a mana at the end of your turn, Grave Titan gives you two zombies when it enters or attacks, and Ghoulcaller Gisa turns 1 thing into multiple zombies (include 1 zombie into 2… I don’t get how that works, but hey, it does.)

Our things are gonna die. It’s just how this deck works. So… We want to hurt everyone else just as much, if not more so.

We have drainers: Blood Artist, Marionette Apprentice, Venerated Stormsinger, Vindictive Vampire, Zulaport Cutthroat and Room 1 of Funeral Room / Awakening Hall to make our things dying hurt everyone else. (As an aside, Bontu's Monument is like this in reverse. Draining when creatures get cast, rather than dying) We have killers: Butcher of Malakir, Dictate of Erebos and Grave Pact to make our things dying kill everyone else’s things. We have batteries: Pawn of Ulamog, Pitiless Plunderer and Sifter of Skulls, our things dying gives us more mana.

End premise here is simple. They need something to die on their turns or Sarevok is going to drain them. We want to make killing our things the bad move.

Well, now that we got some things that make our things dying something that benefits us… Now we need to kill our things.

The altars, Ashnod's Altar and Phyrexian Altar, will do with with the best result, IE, mana.

Warren Soultrader gives us a treasure, but we lose a life in the process. So… Be careful with it.

Yahenni, Undying Partisan just makes herself harder to get rid off, but there’s no cost to it, so it’s still very useful.

Then we have things that cost us a bit, but net us a bonus. Bontu the Glorified drains our opponents and allows us to scry 1 for 2 mana. Priest of Forgotten Gods has a lot of neat goodies as part of their package, but taps so… not as repeatable. Vampiric Rites draws for 2. And High Market gives us a life for a tap.

And a few single instance sacrifices, Victimize, Deadly Dispute, Plumb the Forbidden and Village Rites, we sacrifice a thing, get a bonus from the method, get a bonus from other such tricks.
