Introduction:

So, if you look at my profile, this deck may look a little familiar. . . Admittedly, that's because I wanted to make a Commander/EDH version of my Space Sculptor's Guide to the Galaxy Casual deck. I absolutely adore Unfinity and would rather take one of my favorite existing decks with me into the world of Commander than have to start a new idea from scratch. To quickly reiterate my motivation/intention with this deck and the original, I wanted to make it the absolute best I could mechanically while limiting myself to card art that maintained the 60s sci-fi aesthetic of Unfinity, or at the very least, the humor of the 'Un-sets' (e.g. Tamiyo, Field Researcher). I wanted it to look as cohesive as possible. So, if there's a specific alt. art version of a card listed that's notably more expensive than one from a regular set, that would be why. If you're curious about the mechanics I ended up with and don't want to have to scroll through each card, feel free to keep reading for a summary of everything.

  1. Removal of all cards and replacement with : This opened up more options that are beneficial in the Commander format more so than Casual
  2. Shift in focus from Artifacts to Creatures
  3. Addition of 'Landfall' mechanic

I've kept the land sacrifice and re-entry focus of my original deck but amped it up a little bit by adding cards with 'Landfall'. I believe this makes better use of Land cards as 'fuel' and of Crucible of Worlds keeping those lands coming back. This opened up an arguably larger avenue of payoffs like gaining life, putting more +1/+1 counters on your creatures, and even creating some tokens. There's still a few cards that let me rearrange those +1/+1 counters if I want to as well so they don't go to waste if a particular Creature is destroyed. Overall, even though I miss some of the card art from the Casual version, I'm happy with the result.

As I mentioned, I did try to make this as mechanically viable as possible, but my main goal was still aesthetic cohesion. You may notice the competitive meter is at 95% 'casual' (as of my last update) and that is something I can absolutely agree with. So you may ask why I've put this deck in Bracket 4 as that seems a little high tier all things considered. I agree. However, TappedOut's system told me it belonged there and I got tired of seeing that notification, so there in Bracket 4 it will stay.

If you've made it this far, thank you for reading. Like I said, I love this deck and its original, and I sincerely hope you like it too.
