IMPORTANT

A quick disclaimer to anyone viewing this deck:

I have yet to acquire all the cards necessary to build this deck and as such have yet to test it. All my strategy and discussion of deck synergy is from other experience and theory-crafting, rather than hard-data based evidence, gameplay, or experience. Also, Dong Zhou is a card I personally would advise runnning in the deck, however, I leave it in the maybeboard for those of you who do not wish to spend $70+ on a single creature card you won't see every game.

If any of you viewed the other decks on my profile, you might have the inclination that I have a thing for RW decks.

You'd be right, I absolutely do.

After several years of playing Magic, my absolute favorite combo is not Boros Reckoner / Boros Charm / Dictate of the Twin Gods Infinite Damage. It is not Enduring Scalelord x2 + any counters Infinite P/T. It is having Aurelia, the Warleader and Fury of the Horde (or one of the other multi-combat cards in this deck) miraculously provide me with three or more combat steps to kill one or more opponents in a display of ruthless force. There is something special about watching your opponent struggle to figure out what blocking math delays his inevitable end, only for him/her to realize that over the subsequent combat phases the end truly is inevitable.

The synergy in this deck should need very little explanation, humans and soldiers are weak but make each other strong. Angels are strong, and shine like a star in a human deck. The fact of the matter is in this deck, the bigger you are, the harder you hit, falling is for people who don't have multiple combat phases filled with indestructible soldiers and angels with double strike, vigilance, haste, trample, potentially flying, etc. Hit hard and fast, but don't overplay your hand, let your board build itself with Assemble the Legion, either Elspeth, or any of the other cards that make tokens. Aurelia should really only come out as an all in combo to sweep sweet victory from under your opponents.

Some quick notes on interactions you may or may not be familiar with:

Cathars' Crusade will trigger three times for the +1 and -2 of Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Elspeth Tirel respectively, and will also result in the 1/1 soldiers themselves receiving the counters, making them 4/4 soldiers assuming they survive on the stack.

If all else fails, unlucky draws, board-wipes, creatures countered as they come out of your hand. Pray to RNGesus that you have / draw Angel of Glory's Rise as it is a fantastic / only reload mechanic I stuck in this deck.

GLHF out there!
